Final Picked up a 59 plate Civic Type R GT

My point is the Golf has a nice interior but not everyone is 100% bothered about interior, Jap cars generally have a crap interior, you should see Honda interiors ten years on the VTI models which would have been the equivelant of the FN2 in UK spec. Absolutely awful, they have come a long way

When I bought the Golf we looked at Civics. From the moment my hand touched the plasticy silver door handle and it creaked when I opened it, I knew I'd hate it. Then I sat down in the cabin and I thought I was on the set of Buck Rogers :D.

I would actually say that despite the rattles in the Civic, the materials used are nicer than those in the Golf.

Pfff. When are you gonna post your 'my new Golf' thread?

Haha I do agree it is like being in a space ship - but im not getting these creaks - I really think as is widely reported these were pre-2008 problems that have been sorted

I do not suffer from these wobbly bits or ill-fitting bits. My interior is solid - I don't even have any rattles at nearly 3 years old.

I think you are confusing Honda's reliability for build quality. Yes they are reliable, but they are far from well built - they are known for their rattles and bad interiors.

Well the new ST3 at the show room must have been a one off then - but really its very very solid inside - maybe this will get worse over time so I will report back if this is the case

When did you last sit in a current Honda?

Last 3 I have been in have been fine. Premium materials? No. Well put together and solid feeling? Absolutely.

The CRV I was in interior wise was pretty good to be fair. It's not going to set your ass on fire but I would never describe it as put together shoddily and rattly.

I can't understand why every Civic Type-R thread I come across ends in a slanging match.

I had one (three actually). EP3 PreFace, Premier and FN2.

To be honest I wasn't a fan of my FN2 but that doesn't mean it was a bad car. Just not for me.

If he likes it then bl***y well enjoy it mate. Lifes too short :D

I'm running around in a 1.8 Zetec focus now. It's a better car than the Type-R 'FOR ME'

Hondas are overpriced.

£5k+ for a > 10 year old FWD coupe?

£2k+ for a 14 year old FWD hatchback?

£6k+ for an 8 year old FWD hatchback?

Fast Hondas attract huge scene tax - the upside is, this usually means they don't really suffer from depreciation.

I think a lot of people don't even like the K20, claiming i-vtec is too soft or something.

What are you reffering to? If you compare them to similar cars such as the bland and boring 2.0Litre turbo's that are everywhere, they are not overpriced at all, and you are talking crap.

The one and only previous owner of my S did 2,000 miles in.....4 years. Win win for me but some people have cars for fun/weekends and never use them.

Surely mileage that low implies it had either been driven 2 miles a day to work and back, which is not really a great way to treat an engine, or it spent long long periods of time sat going nowhere, again, perhaps not brilliant?
