Final Picked up a 59 plate Civic Type R GT

plowed frozen field? sounds like driving in essex if you dont think about the kamakazes trying to kill you at every moment

I love the color and it looks good. Hate interior of the new one compared to my ep3

I'm not knocking it, each to their own etc but i thought the interior was one thing that got massively upgraded on this model. Its the exterior i'm less sure of but I think thats a really nice colour and suits it v well.

Really, I haven't had a single issue or rattle yet and its just hit a year of driving on super crappy roads in Hull, which is pretty much like driving over a plowed, frozen field.

I drove one every day for 2 years and within about 1000 miles it was rattling and creaking like nothing on earth. Probably due to the absurdly hard suspension!

Crapper suspension (torsion beam vs MacPherson struts)
Slower than the outgoing model
Fugly from the rear (I do like the front/sides & interior though)

Regards creaks etc - both EP3 and FN2 creak, lest we forget it's a mass produced Honda, not a BMW/Audi, etc.

Not what my 15k would've gone on either, but each to their own.

Excellent car in an amazing colour, never seen one in that colour looks really really nice. I want one of these next but i'll be waiting a year or two

Love the interior on these too but honestly dont bother with the Rage wheels, they look "too much" looks excellent as is

Any plans for it?

BTW : Haters will hate, ignore them, I mean BMW and Audi arent mass produced? I gots lol's

Is this regurgitation?

You are comparing the new rear suspension setup with the FRONT setup on both the EP3, FN2 and FD2.

I think I get his point though, the fully independent, double wishbone rear setup is widely accepted as better than the new torsion beam.

Nice car, hefty price. But, at least paying that kinda money and getting it nearly new you'll have peace of mind with the warranty.

Which one has double wishbone rear?

And yes I know that was his point, just one that can not be based on informed opinion.

Torsion beam is better.... if you want a bigger boot :p 'Better' is a subjective word.

The older EP3.

I also don't believe independent rear suspension is essential for a car that handles well (205 GTi anyone?) but as a rule of thumb, it generally offers better driving characteristics.

That said, most Honda purists don't believe the EP3 is a 'proper' Type-R, either.

But its not double wishbone ;)

I know what you mean though, multi-link semi independant offers much more control. For start camber and toe changes under bump are relative to the body position rather than the opposite wheel position and torsion beam has some significant NVH issues from just two large bushes.

The ride on the FN2 is appalling. Also the build quality is pretty shocking - never heard so many squeaks and rattles in a new car.

I read that the rattles and squeaks were all in the pre 2008 models and now they have been fixed... and tbh if I get any it will be straight back until it is fixed!

Isn't it? I was under the impression it was. I'm not really a fan of the EP3, however I do find myself surrounded by Honda fanbois frequently, I'm just echoing the stuff I've heard.

Edit:
Employs toe-control link strut suspension in the front and reactive-link double-wishbone suspension in the rear.

mike, wasnt the 205 rear end "indepednant" trailing arms?

I'm pretty sure the 205 is torsion bar.

Pug 205
Its use of the now standard PSA Peugeot Citroën suspension layout of Macpherson struts at the front, with torsion bar suspension rear suspension, that debuted in the Peugeot 305 estate, was a key ingredient of the success of the 205. This is fully independent using torsion bars (Torsion spring) and trailing arms. It is very compact and was designed to minimise suspension intrusion into the boot, giving a wide flat loadspace, while providing excellent ride and handling.

Nice motor.

Not how i would have spent the money mind. Mine would have gone on this

The running costs would be substantially more on the scoob, I could afford to use a Civic Type R as my daily drive but not an Evo or Impreza.

You can't have a proper Type R without an LSD like the JDM one, I really want a JDM EP3 but they fetch silly money, £8000+ for a 2002 car :(

DC5 are extremely overpriced for what they are.

How's that then? A 220bhp NA 2 Litre, with awesome handling, rare, and great looks, thats cheaper to tax and run than most hot hatches?

If you want to talk about overpriced, yolu need to be talking about Ford's, or BMW's mate, not Honda

Nice car with the OP, never seen a blue one. It needs the rage alloys though, i like the FN2 with them!

Hondas are overpriced.

£5k+ for a > 10 year old FWD coupe?

£2k+ for a 14 year old FWD hatchback?

£6k+ for an 8 year old FWD hatchback?

Fast Hondas attract huge scene tax - the upside is, this usually means they don't really suffer from depreciation.

I think a lot of people don't even like the K20, claiming i-vtec is too soft or something.
