Finally, we're getting FTTP, woo-hoo! (it was installed in June 2024)

Urrgh, I'm sure they've pulled the fibre cables earlier in the summer but still no availability. The road next to me has fibre already and the cabinet is definitely already upgraded :angry:
 
Just updated. Got mine put in yesterday by MC Quinn, did a good job to be fair, was early and talked through everything and where wanted fibres inside /outside running etc.
One from fttc 50mb to fttp 1500mb is such a difference.

The old fttc is still live and active too

Oh man !!!! Congrats ! Mine went live Wednesday too, only on 900 down 100 up as I can't switch from my current supplier but likewise went from 50mb VDSL+ to fibre
It's made a huge difference

Only issue is latency is not as good as a £500 pcm leased line but meh beggars can't be choosers
 
FYI....

Latency going from VDSL+ to Fibre (btw VM latency is awful (30ms minimum to 200ms spikes) which is why I switched to a slower VDSL+ connection)

While VM HFC latency is never going to be as good as FTTP, I get 12 to 18ms all the time with my VM connection and with QoS don't see any latency spikes. In contrast my FTTP connection (BTW based) is better but its original 6ms for a year or so is long gone and its been 10ms for ages. Not exactly the gap I had hoped for! (both WANs are monitored to a selection of UK servers for a fair comparison)
 
Finally had mine installed after 4 months of delays. The difference is staggering coming from a 30mb connection

OpenReach weren't great to deal with, but the staff that visit deserve some credit for dealing with the rubbish notes etc.

4 months of delays? Jeez. My Virgin contract is up in September and Openreach has just gone live in my area and I intend on switching to Plusnet. Mildly worried about the switchover now and being without any service if things don’t go smoothly with the installation.
 
3 engineer visits, one dig team visit (not really needed but they got the job done) all spread out over 4 months. Loads of crap excuses on the OR portal and just a bit of a mess really. Got it sorted in the end and I'm happy - so that's all that matters
