firefox v2 versus ie7

i have used firefox for a long time but now it seems slow compared to the ie7 that microsoft just installed for me
anyone else having issues with firefox v2 being a tad slow ???

ie7 will probably always be faster as its built into the OS

but you can speed up firefox with a couple of changes, as suggested in the below guide

i've been using FF for a while now but thinking of moving to ie7 i find that sometimes FF doesnt load up sites as it should so have to open ie7 anyway.

Or just install the "Fasterfox" add on and it will do it for you

Have you tried the IE Tab add on: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/

Firefox has always worked flawless for me, I never have any intention of moving to a different browser unless a site isn't rendered correctly under FF.

My FF is setup to function just like IE7 to a T except for me FF is far far better due to the adblock extension and of course extensions in general!

I see no difference in speed between the two either.

Sorry but why would IE work better because it was built into the OS, there are plenty of tools "built" into the OS but, just becuase they are built into the OS dosent mean they are the best.

IE7 Wasnt built into the OS btw, IE 6 was and it wasnt the best IE 7 is an upgrade

FF has always been slower than IE. IE7 is quite a bit slower than 6 though, and Gran paradiso is as fast as IE6.

firefox with adblock plus + filterset g is 10x better than IE7

i have fasterfox and add block in but on the same sites ,ie7 loads up faster
i might stick with it for a while

Play around with Fasterfox, sometimes I have found the "courteous" faster than "Turbo" option

not a chance, obviously you don't actually use these things.

I'm not saying this because im a fanboy, I use firefox 2 as a daily browser. But as I do wev development I have to do testing in plenty of browsers. IE6 loads so fast there is seemingly no page load time at all, firefox takes the best part of a second to load a page. Opera is pretty nippy too.

That's a config problem on YOUR system then because I can video proof that neither browser is faster than the other straight out the box. On SOME sites however I notice Firefox loas the entire page a little faster but it's not something anyone should be arguing about especially since the average broadband speed is 2-4MB :rolleyes:

Give me a URL that loads faster according to you in IE7 and I will video it to prove that is not the case.
