First Build! :D

:D

Im on 103 posts :D

Also looking on the overview sheet on the asus website on my board this came up::

DDR2 1066 (O.C.)/800/667 support

This motherboard supports DDR2 memory that features data transfer rates of 1066 (O.C.)/ 800/ 667 MHz providing great performance for 3D graphics and other memory-demanding applications.

Does this mean i can get ram modules that have 1066 mhz as well as 800mhz (Don't want 667mhz seems low)

It says i have a turbo key, it says this on the box as well but i cant find the button on the board???

Cheers Luke :D

It's best not to mix memory speeds around, so if I were you, I'd just stick to 1066mhz ram.

I'm not too sure about a 'turbo key'.

Turbo Key

ASUS Turbo Key allows you to turn the PC power button into an overclocking button. After you easy setup, Turbo Key boosts performances without interrupting ongoing work or games, simply through pressing the button.

So the question is 1066mhz ram or 800mhz

800 was what i was intially going to get???

And im not sure???

Hmm. Well get 1066Mhz RAM as it'll generally be faster, just make sure you have a look at the timings and make sure the timings are lower than other RAM kits you see.
Generally, the lower the timings, the faster the RAM.

CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5

timings 5-5-5-18

What about that i can't find any 1066mhz pc2-6400 on the bay but have found that at the top

Them timings are quite good, you may as well go with them then. But obviously, if you spot anything at 1066Mhz, compare the timings and see if it's worth getting the 1066Mhz ram.

what do you reckon over the turbo key??

I'm not too sure mate. Look in your motherboard's manual, and look to see where the button is to press it. I'm guessing that when you press it, it will overclock your CPU slightly and then boot your computer up.

Well thats the thing i never got a manual when i bought the board, it is used so it never came with one, i will download one of the website :D

Hhmmmmm.........The online manual mentions nothing about the turbo key, so.....err?????

:S

I will do some digging :D

So i have found that it's the pc power button you turn into a turbo button, the information and activation on this is the driver disc :D

Still can't find 1066mhz pc2-6400 ram :(

Thats because by definition pc2-6400 is 800mhz lol,

pc2-8500 is 1066mhz.

Just get 800mhz RAM you won't notice the difference between that and 1066 unless you are overclocking very high.

I had Geil Ultra pc6400 running at 900mhz for a year and it was fine. That was a e2180 overclocked from 2.0ghz to 3.2ghz.

lol dont worry.

Seriously though don't bother looking for pc2-8500, its much rarer for a reason, most 775 builds were done with 800mhz RAM because it was sufficient some even with pc2-5300 on their overclocked systems.

DDR2 is much more expensive than I thought it was, looking on the bay most of the sticks are worth more now than they were when I bought mine new.

where do you live luke? I'm breaking my pc this weekend so might have some spare bits.

edit. Tokin you need to activate your trust to receive messages.

Just need tokin to sort the trust thing out, done mine, But honestly tokin it's fine honestly, i don't want anything.

Just help me to overclock it when it's finished :D
