First ever build "gulp"

I always build my rig one step at a time, making an effort to test at each step to eliminate problems early and make it easy to diagnose. After it posts for the first time I check the CPU temps to make sure it's not overheating. Most important is hours of memtest86 testing to eliminate ram problems. I was caught out by bad ram on one of my first builds which caused random bluescreens, so I like to eliminate ram as a problem early in the build process.

Once the OS is installed it's off to prime95 for torture testing overnight to see if the PC is stable. That's before I've installed any games or other software.

It can take a couple of days before I actually finish up the build properly, putting all the wires in neatly and installing peripherals and drivers. I like to make sure the basic machine is stable first, just in case I have to take it to bits to test something, or RMA a faulty part.

Wow...i usually knock up a build in 30mins have OS loaded ASAP. Once it has booted im back into the Bios to give it a tweak to see what i can get with a hammer OC.
Dont usually get round to Prime test for a little bit (use linx 20X test).

Basically i just want to use the PC, the best (most fun) way to find out if its working ok is to use it...but each to there own :)

The thing is I have two other PCs to use, (3 if you include my netbook) so when I build a new PC I'm not PC-less for the duration, which means I can take my time. Also having other PCs available during the build is handy for googling for info and fault finding when you need it.

Volts are hovering around 1.14 / 1.17 at 3.2ghz temps 58 / 62 Nothing changed in bios yet.

The paste I used was the PK1 and I just basically put a blob in the middle, bigger than a grain of rice but smaller than a pea.

Final shots of my first ever build, anyone else out there that is thinking of building one for there first time it's damn good fun :D unless nothing goes wrong of course.

just a case of installing some games to see if it works ok now :D

just wanted to ask, is your monitor the b2430h and are the two 140mm fans at the top red LED or just normal fans and what is that red light/led coming from the bottom left corner of the case? lol
nice build btw,,congrats, hope u enjoy it

I need to upgrade some of my ****!!!

that monitor pic has got me urging to spend some folding paper.

just want to ask anothe rquestion, what are those two small tube-like things on the right side of the keyboard, looks like some sort of tubing for watercooling goes in it.

lol the only ugly part about the keyboard is those things, volume and the light control on the keyboard which is red :D

the top 140mm fans are just normal black ones, I'm gonna replace the top 2 plus front for noctua's.

the red light at the botton is Lian Li 53cm LED Band.
