First gaming pc

Make a mental note we need to set up your memory to 3200MHz (but you can remind me now if i forget).

We need to set up your HDD - partition and run a quick format.

We also need to check you temps/stability with some software - do you have a steam account/games?

We'll need to setup your HDD (can wait) - but it would be good to give the system a run around the block.

Quickly run 'Device Manager':

  • Start typing Device Manager in the start menu (there won't be text box until you start typing)
  • After you've pressed 'De' - select device manage that pops up
  • Once loaded tell me if you see any warning/yellow exclamation next to any devices

No warnings next to anything
Wahey!

Ok, install the game of your choice -keeping in mind it's going on your SDD. You will eventually have to have another steam folder for games as you fill your SDD (for another time).

I tend to keep the games i play most or need fast load times (BF1, ARMA 3) on one of my SSDs - and the rest on my conventional drive.

PUBG may benefit from the SSD (no idea - but banished wouldn't) - and it push your hardware. Go for it...

Run HWMonitor in the background, while playing - as soon as you log out look at temps. Or use Windows key/CTRL, ALT, Delete - to look at temps while playing - then go back to game...

ok, ill give it a blast and post back, excited:):):):D:D:D

Shall i run msi afterburner and hw monitor too?

I don't trust Afterburner with early access games (mainly the game) - especially for a first test. We'll stick to HWMonitor first - you'll soon know if you have a serious GFX card problem :D

Once you've had a few successful runs we'll run afterburner too.

Enjoy - take as long as you like - have a proper play...

Afternoon @Plec, hope youre well.

pc seems to be running fine:) Playing PUBG cpu temps 55-60, gpu temps 70-75.

i played age of empires 3 lasrt night too, ran great then all of a sudden the game crashed. box popped up and said something about the memory?

you told me to remind you about setting my memory to 3200mhz?:)

also to set up and format the hdd?

cheers man:D

EDIT: Also windows is just doing a big update by the looks of it too

How did things perform stability and temp wise yesterday?

Temps seems fine - and the crash was probably more game/software related.

We'll do the memory first.

So to the BIOS - and have your manual to hand.

Games ran fine. Apart from aoe 3 crashing mid game. cpu temp during gaming is 55-60, gpu temp whilst gaming 70-75. Everything seems to be running smoothly as far as i can tell.

when aoe3 crashed, it popped up an error box saying something about memory, cant remember exactly what it said though as i accidently clicked off it.

temps are lower playing banished and aoe3

ive deleted the annoying cotana too haha

OK:
  • Select M.I.T. Tab
  • Select Advanced Frequency Setting
  • Scroll/Find X.M.P. (Extreme Memory Profile)
  • Click and select Profile 1
Once this has been selected your Frequency should read 32.00 - if so save and exit.

Let me know what happens...
