First gaming pc

The build @Plec did above. Thanks

yea nice build that. as above it should not have any problems playing on high settings. Im running a 4790k @ 4.6 Ghz, 16 gb ddr3 2400Mhz and an Msi gaming 980ti and my system handles anything I put at it.

Im wanting to upgrade my monitor next to 27" and fancy going 1440 as I wouldn't see a problem with my system coping so yours should be spot on.

7600k @ 4.2ghz, 32 gb of ddr 4 2400mhz ram, gtx 1070 same, my system handles everything fine.

He definitely has a nice build there regarding dmann.

Yeah dmann is going with 1440p @ 27 inch which is a ideal size.

Thanks everyone for your guidance.

Now for the scary part of actually building the damn thing haha.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again

You will have to know how to put the pc together.

I recommend a modular power supply, please research them it is ideal to remove any unwanted cables, i know it is a bit late and i think i didn't recommend one but you ought to get one it will be a bit more expensive but will be worth it, which is the reason why i didn't recommend it until now.

Also make sure you put in the motherboard screws in, they are called stand off screws i think then you sandwich the motherboard so it does not short circuit.

Building the pc will be fairly easy to be frank.

Cool thanks.

There's a sticky thread on the hardware forum which goes into depth about building pc's, I'll be sure to have that to hand on the build. Also plenary of YouTube videos haha

@dmann - first thing you need to do once you've got your CPU, GFX card and one stick of memory installed (nothing else) is flash the BIOS to the latest release.

Use Q-Flash with formated fat 32 USB stick - very simple - do not be tempted to use the windows BIOS software.

If you need additional help at the time - just post back on this thread and we can talk you through it. But it's a crucial build process with Ryzen build for memory compatibility reasons.

Great value quality modular PSU below if considering the above (added the 650W for comparison as very little difference in price):

And someone will always be around if you run into difficulties to help guide you through the process - as mentioned previously, just post on this thread most of us will remain subscribed...

Does this monitor seem like a good choice? Looks good specs and decent price

A quick google shows favourable reviews

But the GTX 1070 would struggle at 4K and you would have to compromise some gfx settings to get the constant FPS you're after. Ideally you would pair a 1080/ti with a 4K monitor.

Personally i would be looking for the best 1440p monitor i could afford - it's still a fantastic pixel density to play at on 27" screens. And it's preferable to play at the native resolution of the monitor - which you may have to compromise if you get a 4K monitor and still want to play on ULTRA with big release games...

hi @Plec

Could you take a quick look and see how it compares to your build please!?

I think the gpu is the same, looks like more ram? Not sure about everything else though.

Many thanks

>snip<

Sorry busy - but in short don't buy that - it's nothing like my build (totally different and defunct format).

Will explain when I have more time - but that is a very awkward and unbalanced build with a dated chip...

Again - don't buy, poor CPU and no upgrade path. The spec of the CPU may read as though it's similar to a Ryzen 1600 (i.e. 6 core CPU) but they're worlds apart in performance. That's what the seller is counting on. It's an EOL product with a mixture of new parts and massive amount of needless memory to make you think it's a super fast computer - it's not!

Sorry for poor explanation but I'm on the fly... Will explain in more detail later if required but you probably get the gist...

Is this pretty much the same as plec's build!? It's another £350ish but that comes built. Not sure if it's any better!?
No - it's not as tailored to you needs making it expensive - and some of the parts are excessive for your needs:

If you're not planning SLI then the X370 MB is an expensive luxury compared to the B350 motherboard.

Again, if SLI isn't on the cards the PSU need only be 550W/650W - depending on future upgrades.

And you need 3000MHz+ memory paired with Ryzen, ideally.

EDIT: Have you considered asking OcUK do a custom build for you - have heard will cost around £50-£100 for the service depending on build...

I'm not going down the sli route.

I tried looking on the website about a custom build, couldn't see anything. I'll have another look.

Will probably build the one you specked to be honest @Plec I'm just seeing what my options are really.

I'm still gonna wait on the release of Vega too to see if the makes any difference to the market.

An example of the similar build - but using b350, 1600X coupled with 3000MHz memory and components tailored to your needs and power needed:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,165.08
(includes shipping: £14.70)

This will be just as fast - faster as it has 3000MHz memory and has a quality 550W PSU. If you add on ~£70 for OcUK to build you would still be saving a considerable amount of money.

The GFX card is on special - hence the change, and Gigabyte has great UK RMA service.

I'm still gonna wait on the release of Vega too to see if the makes any difference to the market.

Sensible.
