First job problem :(

Mmmmm seems I'll have to be the adult for once :/

Firstly, well done for getting off your arse and getting a job instead of asking your parents for the money.

Secondly, it's your first job, it doesn't sound too bad and you will get a lot more **** from future jobs.

Thirdly, You work for McD's mate, you're not going to be there for the rest of your life so keep your head down get the work done go home and switch off. Keep thinking about your trip you're going on and see it as a means to an end, you work hard, save up and then go and enjot yourself, put McD's down to experience, because that's what you're doing :)

In short, well done, stick it out, it will be worth it. :)

Regarding the manager, at first she was like don't worry about it and enojy it, and then she is shouting at me and telling me all the stuff I am doing wrong, and I don't think she realises that I am trying my best at it.

This was one thing I also learned the hard way in my first few jobs - when you're a kid you can make mistakes, and people often do - but generally they're mistakes that only affect you.

In work, making mistakes and doing things wrong too many times not only reflects badly on you - it also reflects badly on your boss, and up the chain it goes. You HAVE to just get on with it, follow instructions to the letter, and mess up RARELY if at all.

If you've been told to be louder and anything else you're consistently doing which isn't right - you must take it on board and do it or you will be out of a job. You can't just go "oh, but I'm quiet" or "but I'm trying my best!" because there'll be someone else out there who'll shout and get these things right and they'll be right there to pick up the job you get fired from.

Sorry :(

It sucks, but the older you get, the more responsibility you have for your actions... if you get a handle on it at 16 instead of 20 like I did, you're onto a winner :)

The manager gets stressed and passes onto you.

You then make yourself stressed. No one can physically make you stressed.

Try and learn to let it bounce off you. The manager might care about something but it does not mean u have to care about it just pretend u do. I'm sure u are like everyone else....you can do things quicker and easier when someone is not forcing u and trying to get u to do it quicker and easier....

I dont know how much you get but i bet its the minimum wage. Do you think it enough money to stress urself out ?? Its enough money to do the minimum amount of work but pretend u do the maximum.

I get £4.35/hr which i think is a bit over the minimum wage, (it's a World Challenge Expedition, incase any of you have been on one!) though at £4.35 I'd need to put in a lot of hours to make any serious dent in the amount needed

16, wow thats young. First job working in Maccy Ds, it is kinda the deep end, I read they hire lots of young part timers to keep their costs to a minimum.

I'd just say stick at it mate, obviously you're a pretty quiet person and lack a bit of confidence in that kind of environment which will make you a bit easy of easy target for the manager to vent her ****.

Its your first job and you're only 16, it can take a bit of time to settle in/get used to it.

Give it a bit more time, if it doesnt improve go elsewhere. It'll always be a positive experience if you look at it the right way in the years to come.

Putting up with the rubbish now, earning what you need for next year, it will make the expedition even better. Knowing what you had to go through to get yourself there.

Sometimes by only experiencing the **** you can fully appreciate the good.

You're better off clubbing together with other World Challenge participants and do some bigger fund-raising activities - I'm sure that's what the kids at my school did :)

Yeah we've got loads of activites lined up, but most of that is to raise money for the "Project" we will do out on our expedition

Stick at it, you don't want to give up and then find there are no jobs elsewhere.

Yeah that's the worry, ideally I'd like a job in PC World or some computer shop, I think I would enjoy that! I don't suppose it is worth offering anything in my local post office?

I started working at 13 delivering post and doing paperwork weekends and holidays working with some of the most grumpy people I have ever met :p Was saving for an exchange student travel to Torquay. It felt so good when going to have actually earned the money myself even if it sucked. Managed to work myself up in the company tho and ended up working there for 6 years :)

Just stick at it, learn how to ignore it and just try to improve whatever it is that she is shouting about. You won't be working there forever.

I'm really into computing and I've been building and upgrading my computer, is there any type of service I could post up in a local shop or someplace?

Sure, try a local computer parts retailer.

I would probably look at working for one of the main supermarkets. Stacking shelves would be much more preferable and now you have a job you can be much more picky.
