First job problem :(

If you're not liking McDonalds mate you really ain't going to like the purple shirt shop!

You will be screamed at when you don't sell a computer, you will screamed at when you do if you don't sell the service agreement, you will be screamed at to sell more, you will be screamed at to speak to customers.

Stick it out shouting no lettuce over the counter at the spotty oik who is a star above you and keep your head down :)

My first job many years ago at 16 was at a Little Chef close by, I was there for ~9months and it felt like an eternity! I then left to concentrate on studying for Alevels, realised I wanted money and so got a job at Somerfield (a small centre of town one), was there for something like ~18months and it was great whilst I was doing my Alevels. :)

As for getting a job, I think in my case it was easier simply because the town was MUCH smaller back then, it's now doubled in size and getting a job is a pain. I've recently been trying to find a job for summer (but applying as though it's perm) and it's taken quite some time to find one. Eventually I landed night shifts at Tesco. Not at all glamorous but it'll pay the bills till I sort out final year uni stuff. The only reason I've got this one is due to it being nights, else I'd still be looking.

Just stick it out though, keep applying to other jobs you may be able to do (unfortunately, being 16 you'll likely be limited to shop, restaurant, cafe and food places) and hope you land a better one whilst working. No point quitting as you could be jobless until the trip!

Every store has managers like that. I've worked in 3 different McDonalds stores. Just stand up to them. I've even gone as far as reporting them to head office about their behavor to crew members. They will soon know about it then ;)

You can go two ways really, you can give up and let your idiot manager 'win' or you can use it as an incentive to learn what you're supposed to be doing quicky - view it as a challenge for yourself and in a couple of weeks someone else will be the n00b and they will be getting all the heat.

If you're not sure about how to do something don't be afraid to ask, leave your job behind at the door and don't let it follow you out and focus on what you are earning the money for.

And I want fries with that. :D

Its only McDonalds!!

walk out, half way through a shift, while telling the manager to "suck these" while holding your nutz, and throw your name tag at him-hopefully hitting him in the eye!!!!!!!!!!!!
