Ok started building my first ever PC, using the sticky on these forums.

I've installed the PSU and DVD drive. Next step is the I/O plate. Does this just sit inside the case and is fastened when the motherboard is slotted in?

I don't see any screws for the I/O shield plate.

Cheers

You push the plate into the slot from inside the case, it snaps into position as it has a grove around the outside that the case material goes into.

the IO shield is optional so you know, it just tidies it up and closes the gap a bit as well as showing what some of the slots are for.

Next question :)

I've fitted the Ram, seemed to go in ok. But I didn't see a definite way that it should fit. Does it fit any way round?

Also, I got the Gelid Tranquillo cooler, but not sure what to do with it?

Thanks

Theres a notch in the slot and at the bottom of the ram.

Fit the cpu to the board, the ram.

Add thermal paste (rice or pea sized blob) and attach the Gelid facing the fan blowing backwards or upwards.

Have you put the standoffs in the case? then put the whole assembly into the case, and screw down.

The ram is notched so it will only fit in one direction, double check the manual for correct slots.

The Gelid ideally should be installed with the fan facing the front of the case pushing air across the cooler and out the back and out the case using the case fan.

Edit I assume your using a std tower?

It comes either on the bottom of the Gelid? or in a small syringe in the box?

Ah that makes sense. Not opened that yet....D'oh.

Ok, processor fitted. Do I fit the fan that came with the CPU before using the Gelid? Or is the Gelid in place of the CPU fan?
