First PC Build - £2,700 - opinions please

Me too, freezer 36 should handle it easily, though it is out of stock.
thought I'd look into it a bit more and came across this

now from quick look, if gaming not a problem. freezer 36 will easily cope. it's when he used it for productivity, he was close to thermally throttling with the single toer 120mm cooler...so in theory it should be fine as the freezer 36 performs really well against other 120mm single tower cooler, esp as it has 2 fans on it. He recommends 240mm aio min, preferably 360mm or a good twin tower cooler(but again if mainly doing productivity)

really want to try the 9800x3d in my rig now, seeing as 7800x3d ive got runs fine with a a35 arctic air cooler, and the freezer 36 is better...which i have but still haven't got round to trying out yet

and yet here below the freezer 36 cools the same wattage as the arctic freezer 3 240mm aio of 219W (14700k with no power limits, which is way more than the 9800x3d which peaks at 151w, way less than the 14700k

you know what, I still think freezer 36 more than competent to handle a 9800x3d....if anyone wants to loan me one, I'll test it

Why keep on upgrading your rig? Use 7800X3d until its slow and get new gen CPU for your socket.

When the 9900x3D comes out will you buy that too? 10000X3D?

I don't need to upgrade my rig. Where'd you get that idea? you read the bit where I said 'loan'

I do actually need to build a new rig..i live and work in a different country from the family, so have my 7800x3d rig here, with a 3070tife pushing a 4k 48" oled....actually waiting for 5000 series to drop so I can upgrade my 3070ti, which is constantly running at 99% gaming, while the 7800x3d is in the 20's percentile (really not utilising the 7800x3d as is)
pc at home is an am4 rig with a 5800X in it..my wife works from home and uses it

then i have 2 boys, one's 18 in 2 weeks, the other is 16 beginning of next year...both are avid gamers and one does computer science..neither have a pc, so when i do build a rig (prob after 'A'levles and gcse's, I'll prob get a 9800x3d then, use it here as the 9800x3d will prob handle my work better, and the kids can have my 7800x3d as it'll really just mainly be used for gaming at home. Might have to build 2 as my eldest will be off to uni, and youngest will be then doing 'A' levels and he's the computer science wiz, and will be doing it for A levels. problem is trying to be fair and both get roughly the same thing...so 7800x3d might be my wifes...got a spare 5600x lying around...might be better option for sending to uni...from personal experience, stuff tends to go missing at uni if it's nice
