First PC games?

Doom and mechwarrior at work had a ps1 at the time then got a p200 played a lot of doom1/2 quake1/2, mechwarrior and a few expansion packs.

2 wow moments were quake2 with voodoo card the lighting was wow and EQ in 1999 my god running around in a 3d world for the first time was mind blowing at the time.

Ultima underworld and wolfenstein 3d. The amiga was stagnating and suddenly these awesome 3d games started to appear on the PC. I built my first pc in the spring /summer of 1992 just to play these two games.

Elite, Leisure Suit Larry in the land of the lounge lizards, a golf game and a formula one racing game. Played them on the new computers in the chemical department library at university instead of writing my thesis. First game I bought for my own computer was invasion of the mutant space bats of doom. Then Quake and of course Tomb Raider which started my need for new video cards by making me invest in a matrox mystique to play it in all it's glory

Shadowfax on the Vic 20 was my first computer game. Shadowfax was pretty sweet for its time.

I remember spending hours and hours typing in code for games from the back of the vic 20 manual only for them never to work.

Then got a Spectrum 48k - first game I think was Airwolf.

Then a commodore 64, first game was definately Commando

Amiga next, first game was probably Outrun, but remember spending a lot of time playing Gunship!

Migrated to an Atari ST for music sequencing (Cubase) - the ST had built in MIDI ports. Lots of Frontier Elite 2 when not programming music.

Finally got a 386 PC, went to Cubase on that and a Yamaha SW1000XG soundcard then discovered Grand Prix 2. Couldn't put it down.

It would either be Theme Hospital or Worms and Reinforcements United as the first PC games I owned. Age of Empires was about a year later, and Command and Conquer Red Alert a bit after those. I think we got Total Annihilation sometime around then too. My Dad played a lot of Quake 2, then Half Life, followed by Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament, and obviously Age of Empires 2. All absolute classics that you could still play today.

I also had like Rodent's Revenge and the games that came with the PC, but not like proper stand alone games

Acorn Electron and games such as Beach Head and manic mole!
Later I bought a 386 SX40 and played doom but it used to stutter, upgraded to a 486 dx2 66 and that ran it very well indeed especially with 8megs of ram!

Railroad tycoon, it was the first game i was hooked too, played loads of other games but thats the first i played for days on end :)

Dune 2000 was the first game i ever bought. Had a P1 100mhz, 32mb ram and a 500mb hard drive. Dune was the absolute limit of what it could run, it started out as a windows 95 machine but got upgraded to 98.....i still remember going through the windows folder deleting random resources to free up enough space to install dune :p

Mechwarrior 2 ( awesome soundtrack)
Doom 2

The other one that stands out is Terminator : Future Shock. That may have been a couple of months after I bought my PC though.
