Hi,

I'm new to these forums, and new to building PCs for that matter. Started mulling over my first build over a year ago now, but for one reason or another have not yet got round to it. I more or less know now what my system will comprise of. One thing that is causing me the biggest headache though is the case. I had limited my choice to 3:

- Silverstone TJ05
- Antec P180
- Akasa Eclipse 62

I love the look of the TJ05, and it is only the size that is putting me off. The p180 was my next choice (which is no titch itself), but I do have concerns over the cable length issue with the PSU. The Eclipse was next on my list becasue, well, it seems so highly rated on these forums, and seems to be a good choice for a first build. Trouble is I'm not too keen on the looks (no offence intended).

I seem to be chasing my tail continually at the momment, changing my mind between each of these cases on a daily basis. And then, reading these forums, the Lian-Li's start to take my fancy (PC70 or PC60??). Ahhhh!

Can anyone help put me out of my misery? As you see my budget for the case is around the £100 mark. My system will be air cooled, and the case will need to house 4 HDDs, 2 optical drives, fan controller, and a floppy/cardreader (possibly).

Any help appreciated.

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case, end of ;)

Welcome to OcUK Forums :)
Eew, tacky. If it were me I'd get the Akasa. It's a wonderful case.

I would recommend a PC-7 but I think it would be a bit small for all those drives.

Welcome to OcUK Forums :)

Antec 900 is a good case but a little cramped & gimmiky. Have a look at the Temjin TJ095 windowed case  superb quality and layout, and has received loads of awards including " Dream Machine" from M*****M PC & *****M PC magazines........ Wasn't too sure if I could mention Companys/Mags on this forum..... Happy Hunting.. ;)

OOp's !! Just noticed your budget M8.. My 2nd option within £100 : Akasa Eclipse 62 :D

Thanks for the replies guys.

The TJ09 is a nice case, but a bit too pricey for me.

Looks like the Eclipse is coming up favorite (not superised really), but was hoping that some P180 or TJ05 owners would have something to say (-ve or +ve) to help sway my opinion.

With regards to the Lian PC7, I would be willing to go down to 3 HDDs, but would this still be a squeeze?

Thanks again.

I have had 3 HDs in a PC7 without any problem heat or space wise and you could fit a 4th/5th in the flopps bays if you really had to.

The Eclipse/Mirage is the case of choice with a £100 budget but you will have to buy some fans as well for it, the PC7 is the best case <£80 imo if you don't mind a little less space.

what about the mirage looks abit nice than the eclipse
The trouble with the mirage when taking the front panel off to clean dust
filter you have to unplug the led and switch leads from the board.
btw my eclipse cost £80 not £100 i keep hearing.

Oh my god what have you done? That case is so amazing i'm going to have to buy it... thanks a lot.

On a serious note that has to be one of the best cases I have ever seen... it's exactly what I need in every respect and the cooling with the thing full of Akasa Amber 120's would be fantastic and very quiet.

And the model number is TJ-09, as if you search for TJ095 it turns up nothing in Google.

But £200... *sigh*

get the tj09. its worth it. best case i've ever had. i'd argue even better than the coolermaster black widow which is the second best case ever :D

have yo uhad any problems with it so far? Can you tell us what you love about it? Do you have all fan bays full and is it noisy with them all active? Do me a favour and spend 5 minutes pimping it in a post as my finger is hovering over the buy button as we speak... seen it for £178 inc. :)

it comes with front and rear 120mm fans. the 2 fan bays in the top dont include fans by default. they're not especially silent, just standard everflows. build quality is nearly as good as the coolermaster i have with everything fitting extremely plush. best things about the case is the layout- uninterrupted intake right into the gfx since the fan and intake is mounted behind the removable hd drive cages which have rubber foam stuff for your drives making my aging wd caviars inaudiable. its very easy to work on and really easy to keep tidy with cables. its also big enough to fit a tuniq tower before you fit the mb tray. check out 3dgamemans video review (i think that guy is such a 'tard but least it gives you an idea of what you're buying) i have the non windowed version cos i think windows are stupid ;)

I'm a die hard Eclipse fan, love my eclipse to bits. But even i would put my main rig in the Tj09. I.n fact the next rig i build I'll be buying the Tj09 and using my eclipse as my backup rig. I could never get rid of my eclipse though so i will have to be saying fair well to my PC-7 :D . The price seems steep but looking at the reviews it seems well built etc.

What about the noise levels mate? The case is gettign a bit of a slating on SilentPCReview forums for noise levels... though personally i'm not looking to make it silent anyway. :)

i've not really noticed it any louder than any other case i've had. i've heard some people saying about vibration from the side panels if thats what you're referring to which i havent noticed myself but then i'm not really very fussy about noise since i mainly game on my computer so have the speakers blasting above all that anyway. i leave it on 24/7 and have never been bothered by the background noise of my computer when i go to sleep although its far from quiet

Out of the above i would get the eclipse.

I have has the case since release and been very happy with it. I have just now fancied a change and got a lian li v1000+2 that i am currently putting a watercooling system it.
