First post - And its a another 'Which Case?' dilema

I don't think i'm going to go with the P180 or TJ05 now. not too keen on the Antec 900, or V1000 and the TJ09 is a bit too pricey. I think I'll either go for the Eclipse, or downgrade my system slightly and go for a PC7. Need to think things through a bit more.

Cheers for the hope so far.

What are the fans like on the PC7? Does it now come with 2*120 as standard now (i.e the +II)? Are they quiet? Are they lit?
The PC-7 does come with 2 120 mm fans. One is low on the front panel in front of the drive cage. The other is above the IO shield right behind where the CPU cooler will be. They do not light up and in my experience they are very quiet, near silent even at 12V.

The ones i got with mine were pretty loud at 12v, but seemed to push a decent amount of air. They can be easilly changed to 7v or even 5v depending on how cool you need your case. In mine i have 2 ambers at 5v and its very quiet, still not silent though.

Quick quest in regard to the Silverstone TJ09. Does it have dust filters on which is essential to me? The review I read makes no mention to this?

If it does I might reconsider what I was going to buy (the eclipse)

Have whittled my choices down now to either the TJ-09 or Akasa Eclipse 62 having nw discounted the Antec 900 due to being too cramped.

I like the look of the cooling on the TJ-9 I still have reservations on the eclipse due to only 2 120mm fans. I have an Antec P160 which only has 2 120mm fans and I dont think its enough. If I got the eclipse ide have to think about adding a 120 on the top altho the PSU would have been better on the bottom of the case for this

i am debating the eclipse and the reason i havn't so far, is it only has 2 fan slots, if it had a blow hole at the top then i would deffo get it

although its a wide case, is 2 fans going to keep it cool enough

I have an Eclipse 62 and it's a superbly cool case with only the two 120mm fans. The key isn't to stick a blowhole in the top but just get a good HSF. I use an Evo120 to keep the sound down and have Akasa Amber fans throughout - each at around 18Db. With a XP4000 @2.7GHz, an overclocked Geforce7800 GTX, two 74Gb raptors and a 150Gb raptor, the ambient temp is constant at around 30C. CPU runs at around 38C.

I'm just about to buy the TJ09 for a water cooled core2 duo system - but the Akasa would be an excellent choice for the price.

I don't really like this new trend of putting psu at the bottom
all it does is make for cable management issues and the cooling
positives cannot be that big a difference however i too like the tj09
and would have got one if i were rich.

I like the look of the TJ-09 although i'm note sure about the side window air intake with no filter.

I have thought about the placement of PSU either top or bottom. 1 good advantage of having it at the bottom is that the top space the the PSU was taking up can be used to have a couple of extraction fans

Just to let you know the eclipse is now in my basket and will be ordered shortly

Just got an Eclipse 62 and it's by far the best case I've ever had, loads of space inside and easy to install a board in.
Everything fits in without any tight cables or cards blocking air flow.
The PSU is tucked neatly away in the top.

I got it on recommendatios from this very forum ! :) as I too, was confused on which to get.

Cheers Tony

<edit>
ps forgot to mention I have prob ordered too many fans but depending how good the cooling is I might try to fit a fan on the top of the case.

I currently have 2 rigs:

AMD 64 3500 + 6800 gt in an Antec 180 with artic cooling on the cpu and gfx card, 120mm fans front and rear as well as the optional acoustic baffling kit. It looks great, it was easy to build, and it sounds... like nothing. All in all very quiet and very happy with it.

I recently purchased a new pc (fully built system supplied by OC) with c2d 6600, 8800 gtx all overclocked to 3.0ghz and sat in a Antec 900. To be honest I was expecting this one to be a bit noisy but the 200mm fan in the top and front mounted twin 120's do a great job of cooling and the system is almost as quiet as the Antec 180 I have.

I thoroughly recommend both cases - the 180 is a little classier and the 900 is a bit more... bling... with blue lights in both the front intakes.

If quiet is top of the agenda - the 180 ticks all the boxes. Not sure how it'd cope with the new generation of DX10 kit though, any opinions?

if memory serves the P180 struggles with the 8800GTXs.

Also, compared to a lot of the Lian-Lis, and a the Eclipse, it has a LOT less space internaly to work with. Plus it weights a ton.

Indeed sir, the 900 is a lot bigger - thus must be easier to work with. I must concur with you.

Weight isnt so much of an issue as it just sits there for me :)

900 is bigger, but needs the HDD drive bays relocated to fit the GTX.

I think, with the advent of very quiet CPU/GFx coolers, much quieter HDDs, and great 120mm silent fans (and good fan controlers), the P180 isnt realy needed so much anymore in the "pursuit of silence".

The 900 is too bling for me, im going to get a PC-A10 when they next come into stock, who needs a P190/P182 when Lian-Li have a case like that?

The Akasa Eclipse 62 is a good choice and the side panel window is availble for those 'bling' types who insist on having a clear side panel
