The customer may be a complete and utter moron, uneducated, stupid to the nth degree and a prime candidate for being removed from the gene pool, but they are always right.

No... I'm sure things like this will make me immune to it. But when you have a big irish brute shouting at you how is one supposed to feel?
Yes retail is not the best place to work, especially if you are of a sensitive nature.Not everyone likes conflict (even the keyboard warriors here I suspect).

OP find out what the company policy is for this sort of thing.Its hardly your fault the machine failed, and damaging a sim must be an occupational hazard.

Surely the customer is asked if they have a backup of their sim, before doing this?
If they say no you offer to do that first?

Not to sound sexists, but my observation is that everytime this happens (on my timeline), it is a girl. Still see it about once a few weeks.
It's a lot worse if you are working for the customer at their house. You can't just call security lol. Only had it a couple of times luckily. Some people are just mental and lose their rag over nothing. Makes you feel like just walking off, but after you have done the work and paid for materials you cant.
In future you will know to ask if the data is backed up. Forget about it and move on.
