First time on dual carrageway!

Took your test around the 16th? Thats quite quickly I would have thought. I've had 5 lessons and not been on the dual carridgeway, but i'm not expecting to for a while yet.

Also, when is the average time to take your theory? I don't really think there's a rush...

Whenever you like mate. But you can't book your practical driving test until you've passed theory, so the sooner you do that, the sooner you can ramp up tyhe number of lessons leading into your big test :)

Yea there is always a long wait, but you can normally get a test any week you want if you put in the effort and phone the dvla every morning.

i was shocked when on my first lesson i was plonked straight onto the main roads in 5 o clock rush hour not ever having moved a wheel before

trial by fire or what

i was at least expecting some quiet backroads at most, maybe car park work stuff for first lesson.

I remember when i first started, ive had 16 lessons now, and im booking my test this weekend hopefully... but I was on Duel Carriageways by my 3rd or 4th lesson, ive got my own car in the back that I drove for a bout a month and gave up because the insurance slaughtered me financially... just waiting till I pass before I get back on the road... but I will admit that month gave me a hell of a lot of confidence, im havin my first lesson back with my instructor tomorrow afternoon!

I had about 25 hours before my test. Probably could have got away with 20 but I had a gap whilst waiting for my test.

I didnt have any choice in 'being ripped off' because I didn't have the opportunity to learn privately so all my experience was in lessons.

I think i had like 70odd hours over about 4 years in total, was my own fault cos i kept having about 10-15 lessons and then stopping and not getting round to booking my test. Passed on my third go, most people would say im a good driver, bit fast but i dont think even god himself could change that why get crippled doing 40 when you can just be dead but happy at 80!

You dont need a petrol to do over 70. My instructors diesel felt ready to go over it, and i know it does it easy.

Yes im aware of this, i happened to learn in a 1.3 diesel non-turbo Clio.....70 takes forever to hit, either way i was being faecetious My mates Rover 2lTD keeps up with my pug 1.8i 16v adequately and is possibly even better >80
