I have a 5piece STC rod 10ft. Good rod. Heavier and stiffer due to the joints.

Just got back from Aldin Grange, blackbird lake. 1 bream about 2 n half pound and about 10lb of roach/skimmers.

Not heard of this place before, is it worth a visit?
Bit of a trek from where I live in York, but easily doable.

It’s a great place in the summer, winter is very hard and a lot of people blanked yesterday. Just down the road from me (15 mins) so it’s a local lake.

Only winter fishing I tend to do these days is either offshore sea - or freshwater coarse on the nidd / swale / derwent.
Cant see the point in ponds as most are now full of carp that only really feed in the warmer weather.

My mate had 17lb of ide and I had 10.1lb of ide/skimmers and a bream. A guy beside me told me his record of ide on the waggler is 38lb.

I was on peg 2, lake 2. My mate was on peg 1, same lake.

First session out today, on a big 65 acre pit within 30 minutes of casting out I had a 25lb common, result.

The rain is currently hitting my bivvy right now and it’s sending me to sleep!

Gonna stay down till first thing Monday, see if I can bag another

100% but the first couple times you go you might end up not doing well. Until you get used to the lake but that's like everywhere.
