Floating bed - rediculously cool

I wonder what the sex would be like on one of those things.

No creaks would equal total stealth sex.

i wonder how this will pass heath and safety regulations - strong magnetic fields are not particularly heathly - the hassle we went through when we got a new NMR machine a few years ago was huge, and that was sheilded.

I believe you would find yourself hurtling across the room at quite a pace.

Be fun, you could have races with your friends. :D

As to iron in the blood, its in a complex ion so it shouldn't be too bad if anything at all. Will probably mess with your brain though.

I wonder if any research has been done onto the healt implications of long term exposure of the human body to strong magnetic fields?

arnt you suppose to flip the matress once every 2 weeks or something. I wouldnt like to flip it and have it fly down and splat my arms with a 900kg force thanks

Last time I heard of people flipping matresses was to avoid the Nazis. :-/

Ok fear my paint skills!

As long as all four directions of movement have a magnetic force that can negate that movement then a sensor can be placed in the bed. A simple embedded system could keep tabs on the sensor location (proximity switch measuring eddies) and modify current to magnets to maintain set point.

It’s possible but I certainly wouldn’t want to pay for one.

it'll never work, there are no forces to stop it going sideways.

:p Physics not a strong point? heard of mag-lev trains?
I'm sure they have thought about the bed sliding off, just turn the magnets in towards the centre of the bed... :D

unless the magnets are sideways to the bed, i can still see it going over.

I want to make a levitating coil, you know where you get a big coil of copper wire then have it hover by pushing a high current through it.
