Floating idea - Lan Party - November - In Private Hotel - Wales

I'll need 6 hours sleep or I'll be stroppy.

*Cue predictable comments*

Really? You don't strike me as the kind of person to get stroppy. You're always happy, always polite, things don't get to you like others. I'm surprised you've said that.

;)

Gutted reading this thread :( I have my final exams friday and if I pass I could've made this and if I fail it's a good job I didnt book as I will need the revision time.

Thanks for playing.

Things don't let things get to me, I'm just always abrasive :)

No problemo, so that's gonna be 5 of us for def (4 of you, 1 of me) and wait for Zico to get back here and see if he's gonna come with us. If so, taxi for 6 then!

I think your maths are slightly out J :D (me, you, Justin + Mrs Justin).

Zico, Justin - just rang Taxi, we're looking at about £60 for all 4 of us so that's about £15 each.

There are buses, one leaving about 14:00 but we won't get the Aberystwyth until about 16:30 so that's a good 2½ hours sat on a bus!!

I am probably going to still be in Peterborough for work on Friday morning, but i may be able to leave there early, if so, i am willing to pick some people up from the train station on my way. I will text/call UE when getting close, and hopefully he should know if there is anyone waiting or shortly to arrive at station.

Not sure where i can afford to get CoD4 of not..... Anyone fancy buying it for me? :D

I think I made a mistake now booking my return train ticket for 7am on Monday from Carmarthen :(.

Christ!!!!! Unless you can get a lift, that's gonna cost you about £60 to get the Carmarthen then! You can't even get a bus at that time.

Well if you wanna save the pennies mate, I don't mind going on the bus with ya, seems a hell of a lot of money for you £75.

*actually Zico, it'd work out cheaper you forgetting the 7am train and just buying a new ticket when you get there at whatever time on the Monday morning.!!! *

What is the chance that I would be able to use my morning ticket later in the day? There are some later times that are currently the same price as what I've already paid. Route back is slightly different (current ticket is 2 changes where as all other times are 3).

On the subject of tickets, since I've not been on a train in ages (dumb questions to follow - purchased from trainline.com), I've got 2 large envelope sized tickets (with a mag stripe on the back) as well as 2 smaller orange gate pass cards. Do I use the gate pass cards at any/all stations and keep the envelope size cards on me for any inspectors?

Are you going through london? I'd imagine the orange ones are for connections on the tube.

As for the other question, it's a tricky one to be honest.

I travel a lot on the train and it really depends what mood the conductor is in. Technically you are obliged to travel on the 7am one as your space is reserved on that seat and of course if you don't travel, they'll say you're costing them the cost of a seat!

I've only been fined once, other times I've had a lame excuse such as the taxi broke down, I lost my ticket, etc, etc.

Tough call to be honest, personally I'd risk it, but then again don't blame anyone but yourself if you get a fine - although pick someone from the phonebook with your initial and surname and use that as your address as they won't issue an on the spot fine but will put it in the post. :p
