Electric went off in the middle of the night but came back on just before 8am. Can't see it staying on for long if theres more rain to come.

We thought our water would go aswell but for some reason it's still working perfectly fine. Perhaps Hardwicke doesn't run off the Tewkesbury plant?

well they recon 10 hours max and you're out.

Be a right pain if the substation goes

 Of course - he's talking about this individual event which is just bad luck, no one would say otherwise.

What the new evidence shows is:

What annoys me is the fact that it's scorching hot one summer (last year) and it's blamed on GW, then it pees down the next year and yep, gotta be global warming, how about el nino or some other reason, have you noticed we've started getting snow later in the year in feb/march as opposed to Dec/Jan, it's like time has shifted and the world needs to go aback a couple of months to put stuff back to normal, you watch, it'll be glorious sunshine in september/october.

Anyone here living in Worcester ? I need to go to Worcester city centre this week near the Vue Cinema just wondering if the area is flooded or not.

I live in Worcester. Vue Cinema should be fine. The water level has peaked in Worcester and has stared falling for the moment at least. The main bridge in Worcester city center is closed at the moment, making it a pain to get into the city center but apart from that you should be fine as it currently stands.

Living in Gloucester sucks balls right now I can tell you that much. It's amazing how much you miss running water when it's taken away. Well, not that amazing really. :p

My GF will make her second attempt (after giving up last weekend) to get a train from Malvern to Plymouth this weekend.

I hope she actually gets here this time :p

Swindon was pretty bad on Friday but seems to have gone back to normal now (sadly... it was a more interesting place when it was underwater). Took me 2½ hours to drive a 20 minute journey home on Friday afternoon which wasn't much fun - especially as I needed a pee, so stopped off at McDonald's to use their loo but they wouldn't let me in as they had no electricity. I said I didn't need electricity I just needed to go pee, but they wouldn't listen to me :(

Anyway, these floods aren't anything to do with global warming, it's God's judgment on the immorality and greed of modern society, according to senior Church of England bishops.

This from the BBC at 23:20 link
The government's emergency response committee has met amid fears a power substation supplying thousands of homes in Gloucester may be lost to flooding.

The Cobra meeting came amid mounting concern the Walham station cannot be saved and as many as 250,000 people could lose power and water supplies.

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said it was understood that around midnight would be the critical time for the Walham station.

The armed forces were earlier drafted in to help emergency services build a temporary barrier around the switching station, which also provides power to water pumping equipment, but it is feared that these measures may not be enough to save it.

If Walham is lost it is thought it could take at least five days to get the power back, but contingency plans are being examined to provide alternative power and water supplies to customers, our correspondent added.

Well... it's midnight. Lights still on in Gloucester?
