Focus CC3

You can't have driven much that are any cop if a Ford Focus is the most amazing thing you've driven.

This is a section of the forum populated mostly by people interested in cars so you shouldnt be suprised that your enthusiasm for what it is basically an automotive dishwasher isn't matched.
 
EOS if you must have a tin top cc, much better looking and with a decent engine range.

edit: Actually I would go second hand and go for an Audi A4 Cab. Proper proportions because its a ragtop not tintop, good residuals, good engines, audi quality.
 
Well I originally asked for opinions on the Renault Koleos having seen an offer for one new for £13,000 which is by anyone's standards a very good price, even if some folks described the car as "meh". There was a suggestion that it was just a copy of the Nissan Qashqui, so I went to the dealer and drove that. Their demonstartor was a 1.6 diesel and it was gutless, I took it down the bypass and it was "meh" if thats what "meh" is.

I talked to renault about the Koleos but they didn't have one on site that I could drive so I went next door, had a look at Ford and discovered the Kuga. Drove that and it was nice too but wasn't sure that I wanted to pay as much as what that was going for. I talked to them about a Focus having already had and loved one before and when I went down to have a test drive yesterday had a go in the CC3 which I thought was lovely.

Now pardon me for being realistic in what I want to spend my money on and more importantly having the desire to spoend that amount of money on something new having never paid anywhere near as much for a car before but I looked elsewhere after I'd driven the CC3 and nothing came close to appealling as it had.

Sure the Focus might mot be super-great but a BMW fanboy is always going to look down his nose at it.

Thanks, but I don't want to spend over £10K on a second hand car thats someone has already used and abused.

Some horny bird might've got off on the gear stick for all I know.

the previous owner might've smoked his lungs black in it or eaten fish and chips in it every night.

It doesn't matter, used is used and if I'm paying out a substantial sum of money then I'm not having something thats been treated like that.
 
Why would you rather buy a crap car instead of a good car simply because you think a bird got off on the gearstick or whatever other bizarre reasons you've come out with?

Smokers cars are very easy to spot.

The Audi A4 Cabrio is a better car than the Focus CC in every possible way, and your budget extends to an excellent example from an Audi Main Dealer with the peace of mind of full Audi warranty.

I doubt girls have been getting off on the gearstick.

Remember after a week or so your Focus is just another used car, except its a used Ford, not an Audi A4.

You seem determined to spend a huge sum of money on a rubbish car because it says '09' on the numberplate.

I hope you enjoy it, but, I doubt there is anything further anyone here can offer you. Most people here use at least some degree of rationality when it comes to car purchase.
 
Answer me this, it might go some way to explaining the difference in opinion we seem to have regarding different ways of purchasing our cars.

The car that you currently own, did you buy it and pay for it up front or is it on finance or some kind of payment scheme?
 
Jeff, I dont get you, earlier you say you have an urge to buy, then you say you're not doing it on a whim? Whats the difference?

I didnt even know 2007 Audi A4 Cab's have dropped so much, that is easily TWICE the car of the Focus.

And do you know why the Focus CC is so cheap compared to list? Because no one is buying them. Dont listen to the dealer if he says they are, they're not. They are ok cars, and I would recommend you buy one if it was an 08 model (which by the way have already dropped to £10k) But New? No way. If you went and sold it tomorrow you would lose about 5k on it.

You say you think this forum is full of badge snobs, well to be frank you're being really snobbish about buying a car which is used.
 
Kappa I appreciate what you're saying about the Audi being better, I'm not even going to try to deny that but judging by the OTR prices on their website I'll be looking at a car thats done far more miles than I'd be comfortable parting with the kind of money required to buy one. With a new, albeit inferior car at least I'll have the luxury of knowing that I'm the only person that has owned it and to me thats a big consideration when soending what I consider to be a large sum of money on a car.

I said it in the last thread you posted about getting the Koleous. Go and drive some better cars. Im not going to make this a lost post because everyones covered exactly what I think and you don't seem to be the kind of person who likes to be advised what to do. Some of your reasoning is out of this world. Whats stopping the receptionist at the Ford factory getting off on your gear stick one night after work? Crazy thinking I must say.

I don't think it is. I think it's much easier to buy bigger and better if you're buying on finance than it is if you're parting with your hard earned cash up front.

How much did you pay?

£8k I think it was, it needed 4 new tyres and a service because it was second hand. It was touch and go whether or not I'd buy it because I was worried he used the boot to transport dead bodied in, but.. I'm glad I took the risk.

Ford miles are different to Audi miles in terms of wear and tear ;)
