Focus CC3

No, but I doubt I ever will be. The fact you think Morba is 'above' you when it comes to car purchasing is even more amusing and sums this entire thread up. I dont think Morba has EVER spent even HALF the amount you are spending on a car..

Completely fox, the 330d is a Y plate and the focus is just a 53 plate 1.6 auto. All bought cheap (the 330d for a reason as you will find on this forum and the focus becaus it was a disability hand back after 3 years).
Both cars together wouldn't come to £10k :]

For £4k you would struggle to find a better normal family sized hatchback, let alone a new one!
For £5k you would struggle to find a better car than the 330D (i've paid out about £600 on it so far after budgeting about £1k (thats not including the oil service though) that I bought in terms of what the car is.

Goodness me. The cars he has mentioned are a class above the cars that I have had. Why is that so hard for you to understand or are you trying to twist things deliberatly?

Well with all due respect it seems that two of the three cars you've mentioned and maybe the Focus too are better than the car that I'm looking to buy

D'oh! :p

I think we just need to leave this guy to get on with it and buy his Focus, or judging by his previous thread about a Renault Somethigorother, post again next month with something completely different he's then interested in.

Thats even more of a reason not to buy than the horny chick on the gearstick

not really, its an auto and had actually done some serious milage (40k odd, which is high for an auto car that is given back). it had been serviced at a main dealer on time all the time and its driven by my wife on mostly lots of short journeys. Its now done 70k or so and its more than fine :]

and what about the delivery driver who thrashed your car on the route from the ferry to the car depot ? and then proceeded to scrape it on the transporter as it went on ?

you'd never know about any of this because it would be cleaned up and repaied by the garage before you collect

your car is never new as its driven by somebody else the moment it leaves the factory.

What if this guy who drives your car is gay?

An analogy;

You buy a 42" Alba TV secondhand
For the same money, you find a Sony 60" TV that is used, but refurbished, looks exactly like brand new and has the same warranty that a new one would carry.

Pros
The resale value of the Sony will be higher
The quality will be better
It probably won't break as much
You will enjoy it much more

Cons
The original owner might have watched that porno on it where the delivery guy gets off on the Focus CC3 gear knob.

Seriously, use some LOGIC at least, from a financial standpoint secondhand makes SO much more sense. We are in the middle of a recession, an economic downturn. If things get really bad you will be able to sell something that has already shed the big chunk of its value and get most of your money back.

Please just go out and test drive some of the things that have been suggested to you.

Just because a car has been driven X thousand miles doesn't mean that it is now defunct. Just take a look on AutoTrader/PH/ebay etc and, shock horror, there are thousands upon thousands of cars with over 100,000 miles that still 'go from A to B and occasionally to C'.

Oh and I honestly think that you have been 'sold' this Focus CC3 thing, you went in there looking at one thing and came out wanting another. Maybe you should go and see Maz for a nearly new Merc, then we can see how good he is :D

Jeez tell me about it. I gave up hours ago. It's clear to see when people don't care about logic or reason and just throw money at a car because they think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I honestly honestly, don't have a clue how somebody could spend 15k on a Ford Focus. I know that i'd look at all the things i could have got and weep in the corner.

OP, buy the Focus, impress people with your 09 plate (for a few months) and don't bother asking for advice from Motors again if you already have your mind made up. TY.

You've done it now, he's never going to buy a new car, i wonder if he also knows that some cars sit in a storage yard for upto a year before the maker sells them, just because the cars only done 7 miles doen't mean some horny chick hasn't been getting off on the gearstick for over a year! Would somebody think of the children, or something......

regardless of the arguements of new versus old

the focus CC is a still a butt ugly car and that would be what stopped me buying one new or old...

It's probably been said already but the Focus CC is a massively ugly car and whenever I see it it makes me think "hairdressers, village people, fashion consultants, homogay ...".

But I didn't ask for advice on buying a car, I asked whether there was any reason not to buy that car. No-one came up with the only real problem (roof leaks) that I could find so it's been a thread full of opinion and none of fact. Most people have shown themselves as brilliant at stating the obvious but no-one seems to want to take my wants and needs into account before offering their two-penneth.

Maybe I am, after all it's my money and my choice. But like I said more than five hours ago, can anyone think of a reason not to?

Except it's seems I forgot to add "because they're are proven to be nails let let water in quicker than Niagara, not because a two year old used car whcih cost twice as much in the first place is better"!

We must have given you 50 reasons not to get a brand new focus CC. If you have to have brand new, then fine go for it. A neighbour just did and I can't get over how big the arse is on that car! It looks so totally out of proportion!

I bought a 306 cab for the missus, and it looks fantastic. Proper proportions, pininfarina styling and reasonable practicality. I paid £2300 for it with 50k on the clock. Has it been abused? No. It was immaculate. It aint now since the missus dented the rear wing yesterday against a lampost :o , but thats another story.

MORAL: You don't have to spend huge amounts to get a decent soft top or tin top car to enjoy. £16k on a focus is silly money when that amount will get you massively superior used cars.
