Er, yeah, cos your fiesta has a 2.0 VTEC unit pushing circa 200bhp doesn't it? NO!

ROFL, I'm only messing with you guys. :D

Back on topic, Have these things become harder to get hold of as there are none foresale near me. Beautiful car tbh.

Well there are probably only around 2000 of them in the country on the road, possibly less, so they are pretty rare anyway.

Cheers guys, I like the focus and start a new job in september that will be a 9mile commute rather than the 75mile round trip I am doing now. I have kept the Rover as that sort of milage would kill a nice newish car.

I can't imagine the Focus being that different to my Rover, just better in handling and feedback department. My rover is stupidly fast in a straight line, has great brakes and handles well. Is also a similar size and a 3dr hatch. I would like a newer version of what I have now, but I can't and the Focus RS is a good alternative IMO.

At last track day I was pulling away from one easy until he decided to overtake in traffic and then spin. Was a shame as I would have liked to see how the two cars compared.

What's the point when you can get the ST for less and it's a better car?

RS looks nice and is a drivers car, also residuals on the Rs are very good
ST is just a Focus with a big engine, No LSD either and no limited edition, I quite like 'rare' cars. :)

It weighs 1,175kg dry.

Bluefin is new ecu software, just like revotechnik is. Gets rid of the limit of torque for the first few gears and also increases the peak power.

dont suppose you know if thats the case for all bluefins? only ive been told the puma has a torque limiter in 1st...

Yes it does, but the torque limiter has been put into the Puma to protect the gearbox, which is why it was strengthened in the FRP to allow the extra power. I'm not sure that I'd want to remove it though...but I've been told that it does work on the Puma.

Well I would guess they would derestrict it really. Ring them up, they should be able to shed some light on the situation. :) Apparently bluefin for your engine is meant to help out with the lack of torque low down.

b18, not k20 ;)

The Rover was B16 mind. The K20 is superior in pretty much everyway to the B series engine though, just seems the gearbox's arn't. My mates just rebuilt his DC5 ready for boost, he has Tuftys(?) old DC5 and that seemed to last okay with boost around 290bhp until the rod mysterily went on the motorway at low rpm. This was after a full track day at Combe too

Is the Bluefin a chip to go in the Std ECU, a reflash or more of a piggyback device?

Tyres on the Focus RS would probably be the only thing that would concern me, along with replacement brake parts. They do have a fair bit of road presence though

It is a reflash. :) You get a small handheld device which when you first use it on your car allows you to save the exsisting one on there. So you can just swap between the 2 when you want to.

Go and buy this months Evo - has a buyers guide.

Main points:

a) When the Focus RS came out they thought it was crap
b) 3 years later they drove a non press car and found it totally different to the press cars
c) Now they think they are awesome
d) You need £15,000 for a good one
e) Servicing costs are reasonable

Apparently there are different version of the bluefin too. GGR and SCC have some. Its hard work this reading about a new car lark after my Rover, I swear I could put mine together with my eyes shut now.

Brake prices aren't too bad now, £60 a disk from EBC and pads are £60-100 a set, from Ford the front pads . Rears are ok as they are same as the St170.
