Foglight Morons

//first post.

I couldn't agree more, me and Girlfriend have been noticing this for some time now. Even older people driving Renault Scenics, Citroen Picassos etc.

I've decided just to flash them with the old high beams.

Most people just seem to have a problem with there light switches in general, it makes me livid when there is still MORE than enough light to see and you get fools coming towards you with there lights on, and all that happens is nobody can see anything because of all the stupid lights, and then they flash you!, like your the bad person!

Dipped headlights are fine, if its twilight/raining they will not dazzle you. Its much better to be safe than sorry in that case. Volvo's still sell millions of cars and no-one complains about them.

I genuinely don't understand how you are getting dazzled by peoples foglights.

90% of them are small, at the bottom of the car bumper and pointed firmly towards the road. Do you have dinner plate sized sensitive eyes? Or drive around an area populated with cars fitted with Light bars?

It's not all foglights, some of them, for example the smaller ones on Minis or Mondeo ST24's, are not an issue. But some are absolutely huge - take the fogs on the front of a 406 for example. They are enormous, and very bright. Meet one coming the other way on a dark country lane and it really is an annoyance.

And outside of cities, we have roads with 'gradients'. This means those foglights actually point all over the place depending on whether the car has just crested a small hill or whatever..

Perhaps its the fact that its cool to hate fog lights that makes you hate them so much.

Ah yes my mistake. I don't get blinded at all, I just pretend I do becuase this makes me cool

people notice it more from xenons because they emit a more powerful light, not for any daft unpopularity they may or may not have.

Yup... A badly aimed light is a badly aimed light, it's just more annoying when it's a badly aimed bright light. Didn't matter where the headlight on my old Yamaha pointed, because the only way I could blind you with it was to poke you in the eye :)

Must be the same way you implied all drivers who are blinded by HID's are just blinded to 'be cool'

HID's and fogs ARE blinding. at least to me.

HIDs on 4x4s for instance are terrible.

another issue for me with all head lights is the amount of people that drive cars with headlights that arnt "trimmed" (not sure if thats right word) propperly and they are pointing to the sky (or my face) instead of the road.... if you know what i mean?

... aligned? :p

Foglights don't dazzle me at all. Just the same brightness as the main lights. I used to use my foglights on dark streets, or on country lanes, but after getting a £30 fine last week I'll be using them no more :)

I saw a guy get pulled over for having his fogs on early this morning. The policeman walked around to the front of the guys car and just stood there pointing at the fogs for quite a while.

i bet the driver was like  i dont know how to turn them off :o

Ok, I kinda just skimmed this thread...........but am I the only person who this fog light problem doesn't bother.

Like Fox I see it all the time but neither am I dazzled or bothered by it. Now even though I've got front fogs I don't feel the need to use them in normal conditions, but nor does it bother me when people do. To be honest its more the rear ones that get on my ****, or people driving up behind you on motorways with main beams on. I would say that sometimes xenons are more annoying than front fogs :)

Yeah when I see someone using fogs I do wonder why they feel the need to have them switched on, but it doesn't anger me. As above, HID's are more annoying IME.
