Folding@home news 21st - 28th March 2013

An age, think it was almost 6 weeks but it was tracked so didn't get too worried!

Should have some news later, I installed Ubuntu when I got back from work desktop would not install (small panic ensues:eek:) but server went on without issue.
Will get the basics up and running then try the other ram.
 
One waits in anticipation for numbers.......

I'm feeling somewhat left out - Biffa has two 4P rigs and BaBa will have two 4P rigs (with more waiting to be brought into service if required)

And on that bombshell - its time for bed

I have her up and running and finally got turbo working:)

First unit is an 8103 frame times seem to be 7.01 for a theoretical PPD of ................934578.33:eek:

I have interrupted the unit several time to get the rig running properly so this could be off by some margin in either direction.

Tried the non ecc ram and it was no go:(

Will see if I can find some DDR3 1600 ecc ram at a good price later.

crazymad performance :cool:

I thought it might be around that, -alias- and a few others at hardocp have been reporting similar types of numbers.

So whats that turbo'ing to? And whats it pulling from the wall Watts wise?
 
It turbo's upto 3.1Ghz the stock(C2 stepping) cpu's only turbo to 2.9Ghz.

Not sure on power draw will stick a meter on it in the morning my guess would be 700W.

Need some 8101/8102's to compare with the guys over at [H]

I tried updating the bios using the Modified bios and afudos.....

Used the following command (in dos):

AFUDOS.EXE G60NG4.A11 /P /B /N /C /R

Also tried:

AFUDOS.EXE /iG60NG4.A11 /P /B /N /C /R

Both gave the same response:

USAGE: AFUDOS /i<ROM filename> [/o<SAVE ROM filename>]

Any thoughts?
 
/i is to upgrade bios

/o is to save current bios

Usually, save the current bios and once complete update to new bios

But in my case - it won't update to new bios :(
 
EDIT: Nevermind - looks like it's flashing - must have had wrong flash utility

Flashed OK - but....

Running at Baseclock of 220 - 2.53GHz CPU speed

Memory has dropped from 1333MHz to 1066MHz according to sudo tpc -dram

should this be the case? or i have not done something right?

Wish I could join you guys folding again, I folded a bit before, but I had to stop when I moved into my student house (cause folding would double the electric bill with a 4.8ghz i5 and a heavily overclocked 6950...) but hopefully I'll be able to rejoin the club next academic year (we are going all inclusive on the bills on our rent so don't have to worry about bills... or heating :D)
