Folding@Home News - Attention Single-Machine Crunchers

most Dells I've used don't like being run at full whack anyway - I would doubt they'd have sufficient cooling to deal with any extra heat on top of that :o

all the ones where I work sound like jets taking off if they get stuck in a loop waiting for some other archaic piece of kit to do something :p

Real-life slacker as well apparently... :p

Edit: take it back - news has arrived
you knows it :p

annoyingly I only realised just after 19:30ish, I was planning on doing the news an hour earlier to fit with the clocks going back - had to divide the week's output by 7 x 169/168 to get the 24hr average correct :p

Don't see why not - one PC after all, isn't it. Doesn't Concorde have that many on 'one' ;) machine at the moment?
I wouldn't have a problem believing it was a single machine, it's only Conc who seems to have a problem keeping his CPU count at something suitable :p

However the single-machines list was started to give people with lower outputs a chance to compete with eachother rather than seeing their name stuck down the bottom of a long list every week (or not at all in most cases).
We've slowly been losing people from the single-machine crunchers list due to not producing anything for 5 weeks (I'd assume that means they've quit) so I don't think it's now serving the purpose it was created for. :o

Maybe we should just give it a change of name and some extra colours for 2-way, 4-way, GPU assisted etc and turn it fully into the uber-high production from something contained in a single case and be done with it :p
I'm up for whatever the majority want from the news post

You have no idea how tempting it is to use this PC for a week or two, so im no longer single machine. Then turn it off and ask to swapped back :p
lol - I think the technical term for that is "Doing a Tross" :p

I'm happy to make whatever changes people want from week to week - I just need to be told and preferably in this thread so I don't have to hunt around each week :)

OK, I deleted everything after and including [http] in the client.cfg and it said it worked.

Although now it says I have two processors - I wish. ;)

Thanks for your help
It's not usually a good plan to edit the config file manually though you may get away with it - if the config file gets corrupted it can mean that your points end up going to the anonymous username under team 0 :o

The proper way is to run the client with the -configonly switch (either from the run prompt or from a shortcut) which will take you through the config options again. It's all in the sticky guide if you need any guidelines.
