Folding@Home News - Attention Single-Machine Crunchers

Welcome Beenom - that's quite some single rig you're bringing to the team, you should do well especially if you get lucky with the WUs

Rincin - I'll change you to Silver instead then, assuming you didn't want removing from the list :)

I doubt the two processes are actually switching over - I expect that task manager is just reordering the list of tasks by CPU % or something.

In FahMon go to the menu and select

FahMon -> Download New Projects

that will make sure all the information for the projects is up to date, then select

FahMon -> Benchmarks...

or press Ctrl+B which should give you minimum and average frame times and will give you a PPD figure for each too

Ah yes, you are indeed correct about the reordering in task manager :).

(From the benchmarks)

Project : 1808
Core : Amber
Frames : 100
Credit : 153

-- FAH2 --

Min. Time / Frame : 11mn 28s - 192.14 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 11mn 53s - 185.40 ppd

Project : 2408
Core : Gromacs
Frames : 100
Credit : 600

-- FAH1 --

Min. Time / Frame : 15mn 26s - 559.83 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 16mn 01s - 539.44 ppd

Those look ok?

Yep those look fine - and the second one looks particularly good! :D
The first one isn't bad for an Amber WU on an Intel (for some reason Intel chips just don't like them much) and the second one has bonus points due to the fact it's the one using the 100MB of RAM so they give you more points for your trouble

just noticed that I have been left off the single machine crunchers table, I know my account page says I have had 3 active CPUs in the last 50 days but thats because I use a dual boot and for some reason it sees different operating system as seperate CPUs?
hmmm not sure how that happened
sorry about that - will add you into last week's news

Ok all updated ready for the news in a short while. :)

I'll also be removing a whole load of names from the Single Crunchers list who haven't done anything for 5 weeks or more - will be naming and shaming of course :D

edit: the following have all been taken off the list - thanks for your previous contributions and if you come back let me know so I can re-add you :)

Any chance of being added to the list?

C2D running as much as possible for you guys. First 2 projects downloaded 10pm today.
yes no problem - I'll add you ready for next week's news, well unless I forget in which case you'll have to shout at me and remind me of it :p

welcome to the team :)

Well I have finally succumbed and switched to a C2D, hence Unforgiven will be running a dual core from here on.

I will still be running a single machine for now, so Rich could you please change my colour in the stats page?

I've had an initial look at an OC and I got up to [email protected] (6 hours dual prime stable) but it seems I had an EUE and so am back at stock for now until I get more time to fine tune.
Sure no worries - though if I understand correctly you'll be using both machines for a while? That would kinda rule you out of the single machine bit anyway

As for EUEs it may be memory timings need slackening off rather than the CPU causing it - or may even be coincidence that you just got a bad WU at the time

@dead_martyr - I'll add you ready for tonight's news too, that a single or multi core?

.... after 6hrs would it still upload happily?
yes - it will get new work probably within about an hour of the connection coming back up (like SS said the retries get longer and longer apart so if it had been trying for 6 hours it may still take a little while after the connection is sorted) and will try to send the finished WU every 6hrs as standard

you can force it to send/receive by restarting the service/client as it send and receives and work at start up anyway :)
