Folding@Home Weekly Team News - 13th July 2006

not bad at all - you're second place to a beast of a dual Xeon with Beta WUs and miles ahead of the next best single
that's a slightly low week for dunc though - it's often 5K plus

Just getting back into my stride ;)

Shame that I could not crunch Beta wus for the slug-out though :(

My Xeon just loves them!!

BTW I have I have put a dual core 2.8 on my 'The_Alabama_Slamma' account to see how it does. Therefore it is a single cruncher account. I will post it in the 'official' thread too

Dunc

Updated the quick guide. Added an answer to myth number 11, anyone whos interested have a quick look and see if it answers the question and see if there is anything else that needs adding. Those myths will form the basis of our little gd poll. Link to the quick guide in my sig.

Also updated the team news link.

My next job is to increase my own production. Its no use telling everyone else to stop slacking when i'm slacking myself.

Added 800mhz + 733mhz of extra folding power this week, although neither have finished a wu yet.

Still on the hunt for a nice athlon mp system to crunch with, and i'm wondering what my budget for the 'greasy bits' (i like that little phraze ;) ) should be?
I mean if it costs me £200 is that value for money, and at what budget does building a brand new folding node become the better option?
I could do a sempron node for that price i expect but it wouldn't be as good.

Not bad. My first full week (all rigs on 24/7) for months and managed to scrape 3rd in the top dumpers. Pretty close between Babyface_UK, Sculptor and myself - a nice tussle :D

Good output from the team this week considering the amount of poor WUs floating about.

Thanks as always for the news Rich and welcome to the new members :)

Fold on team 10

Stan :)

Yay 100k tiffykat :D

Very Very well done Haly.. but take a good look behind you :p

great week for me since my main X2 rig is down and i don't have a clue what's going on with it.

I have a big tiffy coming up and i've made some ground on DigDom as well.

but the folder of the moment has to Gazzza.. Going by his form, he can grab 2nd place in just over a year !!!
#put more coals on fire#

Great week overall for team 10.

Welcome newbies and raises glass to rich for another great news thread.

:)

Not a bad imapct for my first week, I think I have all my machines folding now.
Only problem i'm having is a dual Xeon 3.06, running in HT with P1487 WUs on each of the 4 "processors", looking at about 2.5 weeks to complete :(
I still think I can get more output that babyface_uk, I'll challenge him to 50k, that'll give me a little more of a chance.

Challenge accepted, first one to 50k gets a go on spanky :D

Babyface UK

Following on from the chalange above...

... has any one else noticed that theirs going to be an almight scrap in about a month around the 60k mark involving some of the more vocal members of the forum - Let the fun begin :D

I've been away from home for the past two weeks and shocking though it may be, my two main rigs were *ff the whole time. And so, for the first time ever in FAH, I have been stomped

Be warned many a stomped virgin will be de-flower in the comming weeks

Fold on all

Wow, top single core!

Shame that I have a 2107 on the go now that will take another 3 days to complete...

Thanks for the stats Rich.
Congrats, thought you might be there with the rig stats I saw.
I'll have to see if I can mount a challenge now that my A64 3200 has been replaced with a A64 4000.
Though that might change again depending on price cuts when Conroes appear.

You mean GH ;)
No i don't.
The only idea i have for a gh thread is a competition and we have just had one.
If you can think of something by all means say so and go ahead and post it providing the dons are ok with it.

I've emailed Freefaller and if he says its ok then i'll be posting the folding poll in the gd. If not we'll wait some more or i'll have another go at coming up with something for the gh, but to be honest i don't feel right about posting spam in a forum full of people trying to get help with hardware problems.

How about something like.

Want to see how your new hardware Fairs against the rest?

Because Technically you can see how good your CPU and overclocks is against every one elses from the points you get from folding ;) :)

Thing is though, a lot of the members in GH aren't regular contributors to the forum. They generally join up to ask one specific question. Then they either drift away or go hang out in GD.

Not sure we need dozens of EUEs from CPUs overclocked to the hilt either... I'd stick to GD for now!

It doesnt matter if they post or not, just aslong as they have WUs running in the background of there computer :D
