Folding@Home Weekly Team News - 21st December 2006

3000+ is clocked at 2.6ghz by day, 2.4ghz by night and runs 24/7

Gpu folding seems to be taking much more of a hit from my gaming activities then Cpu folding ever did. I cant explain why my cpu cant fold as fast at it should and used to, but im still getting to grips with my gpu's sensitivity to well... every thing.

Im guessing a 2nd core to do the gpu polling would help out a lot...

Indeed - comes as a surprise to most people, particularly to the guy who only ran the SMP client on his macbook overnight and limited to only 20% of the CPU due to the noise of the fans otherwise :o :p

I have loaded Ubuntu 6.10 onto my dual Xeon (dual booting). Going to take about 16 hours to do a 3026 wu. Must make sure it is on at least 8 hours per day in linux to ensure I meet the deadline

Just remembered:
cert.php

Nice christmas pressie :D

Oh and Pilgrim57, you have been stomped, sorry :)

Anybody having problems uploading wus? 171.65.103.100 and 171.64.122.134 keep failing :(

Also 171.64.122.128. Managed to send work ok but can't get any new work (only one rig atm).

Stan :)

171.64.122.128's status is currently Full. That would indicate it's just very busy. Keep trying. Have you been able to get a new WU to work on yet or are you sitting at *dle?

Got one from 171.64.122.141

Sadly its not another p1499 (600ppd), but a lowly 2142 :(

Once you turn in your first WU and it's entered into the database you'll appear in the stats the next time the stats server syncs with the database. This can take up to three hours.

If you didn't appear in the stats when Rich captured the stats on Thursday you won't appear in the news. Think of it as having a head start for next week when you do show up. :)

What's your username? I don't suppose it's Bennah.

If you are trying to fold on a single core CPU AND a GPU in the same machine, the GPU polling will destroy any output the CPU may have. Considering the GPU will thrash that 3000+ into next week however fast its clocked you may as well turn off the CPU and concentrate on making that GPU work well.
