Folding@Home Weekly Team News - 7th June 2007

I think there is a lack of 1760 pointer SMP WUs at the moment. I haven't had one for about 4 days! If other people are in the same situation then production will drop quite a bit.

I see a few subteams still kicking around. I'd still like to join one. What's the difference between [SIR] and [OcUK]?

[SIR] is the official single cruncher subteam setup but me and WoZZeR to see if it a good idea, and feedback information to the group - and your most welcome to join.
Just add [SIR] anywhere in your user name via the config flag. This will generate a new ID that can be tracked individually (aka single cruncher league) but also grouped via Kakao stats and rich's news.

[OcUK] is the result of members not using normal brackets
but it's been running over a year now. As SB is showing no signs of retirement or wishing to change his ID it's here to stay.

So imho I'd recommend you add one pc/mac/ps3 to [SIR] and if a dedicated single cruncher subteam is poo-poo'd by the community next week so be it. It will either become a subteam with no cpu cap or disband.

Edit: thanks for your clarification post SB - work got in the way of me posting this.

Edit2: just 2610 (600ppd) and 2608 (1150ppd) for me :(

I stand corrected ;)
and learned something :D

parentheses / round brackets / brackets: ( )
box brackets or square brackets: [ ]
curly brackets or braces: { }
angle brackets or chevrons: < >

Parentheses may also be nested (with one set (such as this) inside another set). This is not commonly used in formal writing (though sometimes other brackets [especially square brackets] will be used for one or more inner set of parentheses [in other words, secondary {or even tertiary} phrases can be found within the main sentence]).

good week for me - first full week running win SMP and it's run like a dream and churning out the points big style.

Just hit a 2610WU which is going to take a day and a half to complete!!!

That's not good!

Been stomping away well but this will put a spanner in the works!!

Thanks for the news as always!!

Ahhh.. thankuverymuch...

Cheers for the news again :)

According to fahmon my quad @3ghz is 311% faster than a pentium D clocked at 3.8ghz, 315% faster than an x2 and 363% faster than a T2600 :eek:

Lost for words at that speed!

Now that A level exams are over i can get down to some real folding and start building rigs again :D

NOT happy

Just checked on my SMP client and noticed to my horror that there was no CPU being used!

Checked the log and for some unknown reason the client stopped with an Interrupt. This happened at about 7pm so I have lost 6 and a half hours crunching time. Luckily whatever caused the interrupt didn't kill the WU. First 1760 pointer I have had since Tuesday.

Terrible luck mate :(

I realised that using suspend on my laptop in quick succession = no go for wsmp, just sits there confused.

edit, question for you guys.

What would you rank the PC clients in terms of output?

Top to bottom

linux smp ([email protected])
gpu (x1900xtx)
windows smp ([email protected])
standard client
gui client

something like that?
