Foo Fighters to play Hyde Park!

Wish Id been able to see the Foos in Ipswich last night, only 1700ish tickets and a mostly acoustic set by the sounds of it

I bet it was fan-friggin-tastic

I saw them at the Victoria Apollo last night, and believe me - it was of the best gigs I've ever seen. :)

For anyone thats going to this later today, look forward to the guest appearance of a certain legendary guitarist and drummer.

:D that was definately a good suprise guest appearance! :D

Had an amazing day :) gorgeous weather and brilliant bands, I am completly shattered but will try and get the few pics i took up :)

Hope everyone else had a good day!

Was such a great day, very hot and very sunny but amazing time.

The last 3 acts were rock solid, especially QUOTSA and the foos of course (not forgetting those guests - best music thing i've seen in a long while!)

All in all a tiring but fantastic day had by my girlfriend and I.

im just home my god brilliant gig as i expected, but ive never worked on such a busy bar it was literally 4 deep at the bar at all times of the day, we sold 30,000 pints of draught beer that doesnt include all the bottled beverages which we sold thousands of to. The top spender was one guy who bought 2 crates of Grolsh and 2 crates of smirnoff ice that came to an eye watering £288

Cracking day out :)

I thought QOTSA were a bit meh tbh, still OK though, but Motorhead were chuffin' class.

Not sure what DG said about it being the biggest gig Foo Fighters had ever played, but they were brilliant, and I aint even a fan.

Was thinking that Mr Grohl had put on a bit of weight...

Was discussing the gig with my friend a few days ago, thinking how this gig was bigger than anything Nirvana ever did - but how the work in Nirvana was much more significant than anything the Foo Fighters did.

I thought Queens were excellent, I loved the variations they had put on some of their songs... the sound quality wasn't in their favour but as a support act they dont get as much oportunity for their engineers to sort out sound levels and such...

I believe that the Foos are awesome and rightly deserve the place they are in music at the mo, but their fame was based a lot on Nirvana's work, which is understanable but as you have said the Nirvana was a much more significant movement than the Foos, even tho I prefer the Foos.

As for QOTSA I really like them and I was annoyed when I missed eagles of death metal when I went to see the Foos in Manchester, I think their variance in music was their strongest area.

So to re-itterate what CBS has said, Foos rock and are bigger than Nirvana but are not as important, also QOTSA are good :)

Otacon called me a couple of times so I heard 20 second bits of the concert, didn't make me envious at all :p ;)

I had a great day out, but found the crowd to be particularly crap, kinda ruined it a little. But I guess thats what you get from a hyde park gig.

Cant believe no ones mentioned AVA though - they died on their arses! What the hell was DeLonge on! I loved the way the crowed werent having none of his "Im gonna conquer the world" bullcrap! Idiot.

I enjoyed Juliette and the licks, great front woman but all their songs are a little samey. QOTSA were fun, not really into them though. Motorhead were great for comedy rock n roll value. But if youve heard one song, youve heard em all! Good set all the same though.

Foos were cool, wasnt the best show Ive seen em play but it was still fun. The sound was quite crap from where I was standing too which was dissapointing, and I was quite near the front. Lots of dicks in the crowd too - I found it much worse then download in crowd terms. Still, it was great to hear the classics again and May and Taylor were cool for Tie Your Mother Down.

Dont think this fortnight could ever be beaten for musical value!

Hmmm. I take it you didn't see RHCP two years ago. Similar scenario, except "Chicks on Speed" were the first band on. After about 3 songs the crowd were no longer clapping at the end of songs. After the 4th song, the crowd were booing. In the midst of about the 5th song all available bottles were being directed at the stage and any near miss was cheered. Forcing the Chicks to dodge was especially prized.

Hyde Park can be a mean crowd. Even yesterday I got covered in Sminoff Lemonade.

Yes, and I also think he sung an entire song in poor tune. Was absolutely terrible.

I thought Juliette and the Licks were really cool, abit like yeah yeah yeahs and I like them :)

Angels and Airwaves tbh are abit rubbish, they played a song and I turned off, would listen again 15 minutes later and they would just be starting their second song, its nothing what blink 182 were, tom delonge just isnt himself without the dirty jokes! :o

QOTSA were good, was quite far from the back but had a little sing along, u cant beat Josh Homme's vocals!

Motorhead, well tbh I havnt really heard their songs except the obvious ones, but someone said once uv heardone uv heard them all! Enjoyed them though!

And Foo's well it was just awesome song after awesome song! It was ace :D but the sound felt like it was coming through a small stereo, and it also felt like a short set (or it went really fast) and wow o wow when May came on :D That was definately a nice suprise!

All in all a really great day! Beautiful weather as well! I am absolutly shattered now but it was definately worth it!

edit: oh and crowd wise it wasnt too bad, but we were quite far back! We had a lot of very drunk weird people near us which wasnt to great! My sister and her friends said the crowd was really boring where they were and wouldnt dance, or move.

Nothing short of amazing....apart from Angels & Airwaves, could've been good if they hadn't milked every song!

just a few pics from the Inner Circle that i took, sorry if they are blurry only bought a crappy P&S camera with me!

I had fun but the sound quality wasn't as good as Reading last year, from where I was standing at least. I was near the front of the general admission area. Couldn't see the stage at all and rarely got a glimpse of the screens because I was too busy trying to stay standing from being shoved around so much. And when Grohl was standing on the walkway near where I was, I couldn't even tell because I just couldn't see anything. Was good fun though, and the surprise guest really was a surprise.

Sorry KaHn, I don't want to start an argument - but I really can't agree when you say that the Foo's fame was based a lot on Nirvana. Sure, DG's connection may have helped a bit - but if you think that when their second album was released (TCATS) nearly 10 years ago, they were virtually unknown over here (and from what I gather, not particularly big in the States).

That's a decade of hard graft & excellent songwriting to get their fame.
