Football and the Coronavirus

I mean every game that hasn't been picked already, the games that wouldn't normally be live.. You cant do it by club with sky etc still around.
But why are you so bothered to be able to watch other games now, when tbh, you probably weren’t bothered before about the games not involving Liverpool that kicked off at 3pm on Saturday. It’s an initiative to allow fans to watch their teams games while generating revenue for the club.

Because id like to and because i have since lockdown...I prefer to watch other teams over my own lol. My point is they cant go on about mental health etc then slam what they see as a relief from all this behind a ridiculous pay wall. I have no issue paying for extra games but this is too much.

I guess i can see a situation in which all of a sudden next season Arsenal vs Liverpool becomes a 3pm kick off on a Saturday when we all know that has 1230 on a Saturday or 430pm on a Sunday all over it.

The government brought football back though, while paying people’s wages. It’s a fair swap, they pay your wages and bring football back, but you might have to pay a bit extra. I’m just happy that’s it’s back.

And no, there’s no way those sort of games will be moved to 3PM on Saturday. Just will not happen period.

When I was in Hong Kong I had 6 PL channels and every game live as part of the standard sports package. Bonkers you can't get them here.

Putting the extra games up here as a way to plug a bit of the revenue gap with grounds empty, but 15 quid a match? Tall about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

5 quid a match? I'd probably have bought a few, but 15 quid a pop, they can do one. Idiots.

I agree £14.99 is a bit strong. Should be £9.99.

I dont mean literally moved but i can certainly see a future where if this goes well they put those games behind an additional paywall.

Like I have said several times, paying more isnt the issue its the £15. Its ridiculously steep.

You'd hope not as players are being tested regularly. The issue is that the north west and Liverpool in particular have one of the highest infection rates in the country. Players and their families will catch it, it's unavoidable unless you lock them down again.

It probably also seems more because we're getting names. We've had 4 players over 3 weeks? The PL are getting approx 10 positive cases per week at the moment.

Shaquiri played for Swiss last night as his was false positive, so makes you wonder what's happening with this testing and if there's false positives surely there's also false negatives.

Was he false positive or just not infectious. I was listening to somebody the other week (Eddie Hearn iirc) and they said a PL player can play after x days of being tested positive, even without returning a negative test as at that point they're no longer infectious but a test will still find traces of covid.

A couple of snippets of news regarding the PPV situation and crazy rules around fans not being allowed to return to stadiums.

On the PPV point, reportedly (despite not taking any profit from it) the broadcasters have set the £15 price. I can only assume that they've done this to keep viewing figures for their contracted games as high as possible.

EFL clubs are reportedly about to start allowing supporters into their hospitality facilities to watch matches on a big screen. They are going to have to close the blinds in these boxes though so they can't watch the game going on outside! It's ****ing crazy that supporters can sit in hospitality lounges and watch the game on a big screen but can't sit outside, where it's safe, and watch the game.
I've no idea 100% just that the commentator said when he read the teams out that he was included because it was a false positive
Looks like it was a false positive. Regarding your point about possible false negatives, there is clearly a chance of these but with regular testing it won't take long to discover these. The chances of returning consecutive false negatives is tiny. Hopefully more PL clubs are using the instant breath test that Spurs are trialling too. If clubs use that daily alongside the existing test then the chance of anybody slipping through the net is close to zero.
