Football Banter Thread

Oh dear...

He's never had a great injury record but the last 18 months has just been silly. As soon as he's fit he's picking up a completely different injury from the last 1.

That is just insane, I know he has talent and is a proven goalscorer but whats the point when he plays 1 game a month.
Read that since Saurez left he has 'earnt' approx 10million a game given his salary and injury record, no idea how true that is.. (71 weeks, 150k a week and 16 games or something)

Edit: its not, more like 800k a game

You think we are really paying Sturridge that kind of money with his record?? That might be correct but that'll include all sorts of clauses I'd of thought. I can't see him getting even 100k at the minute.

It's a real shame but it's time to replace now.

It makes no sense to sell Sturridge now. His value is rock bottom right now and anybody that would be interested in him won't be able to afford his wages meaning we'd be paying him off, wiping out any fee we'd receive.

Ignoring the financial side of things, I'd still not sell him. As I said above, he's never had a great injury record but this last 18 months have been extreme. You'd hope (touch wood) that long term he'd be available 60+% of games and I'd rather have a world class striker for some of the time than a good striker all the time. We can't be relying on him though. We've got to get the best possible striker we can get and see Sturridge as a bonus when he's available. I suspect that was the thinking with Benteke but whether he's the answer remains to be seen. Like when he signed, I've no problem with his ability but you're still left wondering how and where he fits in.

I'm sure DM will put me in my place after scouring Wikipedia but didn't RVP have nightmare issues with injuries? I know everyone gets injured at Arsenal but he eventually got through them.

I was going to use him as an example but I can't stand the ****. But yea, he had a 3 year or so spell where he was fairly injury free.

You can guarantee if we sold him he'd stay fit for 2 years straight, scoring 50 odd goals.

Going off Klopp's press-conference today it seems as if Sturridge's injury is very minor but the issue going forward, short-term, will be getting him 100% fit and ready before he comes back into the side this time.

A lot of places are reporting that Klopps first signing is a done deal, german winger called Kevin Grosskreutz that he has worked with before. Anybody know anything about the guy? Cant say that I've ever seen him play (at least not that I know of) but purely on stats on paper he doesnt seem all that special.
