Millennials. Sigh. My granddad would say Sir Stanley Mathews is the best player he has even seen and I would believe him although perhaps not agree with him. It is far easier to name best players from each decade as it is easier to compare. Ronaldo has an entire hospital following him everywhere almost like a motor sport team where his body is the "car" so to speak and his brain the driver. Take a player like Maradonna and apply the same ethos as Ronaldo and you would have had a juggernaut.

I agree up to a point but I think that quite a large part of becoming a professional footballer is your genetic resilience to injury and strain and your ability to recover from it. In most sports, the top top players are genetic freaks. That has almost always been the case. I don't doubt that the likes of Maradonna etc would have been better with modern coaching and physios etc but they were obviously injury resistant and although the game was more brutal when they played it was also a much slower and less technical game. Watching highlights of the likes of Pele and Maradonna you can't help but be appalled by the general standard of player. Defenders were awful. They would try and decapitate you in a challenge but they overcommitted, lunged in and were slow and positionally poor compared to the players of today.

This is why its pointless comparing players from different eras.

the stats speak for themselves. the world cup ones.

as for he got injured in first game. Brazil still won the world cup where Pele never took part again in a match after the first game.

So what does that prove to me? Brazil had the best squad in the world even without Pele so they must have had some team.

Then look at all the times he did play in world cup and win it playing more than 1 game. he scored 3 goals the golden boot went to someone who scored 11 or 12.

so this shows at the top level he was crap. all his goals were against amateur brazilian teams. he only played in 2 leagues. brazil and MLS, both of which were full of 99.99% dross

Maradonna however played in Serie A top flight. he single handedly won his team promotion and the title iirc. He is levels above Pele.

I do agree with you I was just pointing out that you cannot really compare players from different generations. Maradonna in my opinion is the best player to have played but also wasted his career to drugs and booze.

if i had to pick top 11 it would be hard to get him into team tbh

-- Ronaldo CR7 - Ronaldo R9-

Ronaldhino - Zidane - Messi

---Matthaus - Pirlo ----

Maldini - Baresi- Beckenbauer

------- Buffon ---

3-5-2 because with those 3 at the back nobody is getting through

the only one you could take out for maradonna is possibly messi but messi's stats speak for themselves. also you could take out ronaldo r9 for any great brazilian striker or puskas, di stefano, etc.

Zidane over Cruyff?

Zidane over Cruyff?

yeah zidane could score 30 yarders with both feet, he didn't have a weak foot only 2 of the strong feet. he could also take 2-3 players out of the game. cruyff was good a master with the ball but ronaldhino did only what cruyff dreamed about. zidane also scored a wonder volley as good as cruyff's and i believe he did it in a champions league final too.
