Football Fixtures - 28th-30th December *[SPOILERS]*

Now I know they say that winning when playing bad is the sign of champions, but we're taking the **** out of it atm.

But still, another 3 points safely in the bag.

United need to play their first team more often, rather than their second string interspersed with rooney, ronaldo or berbatov and a few youth players...

Also, why does every crap team seem to up their game against United. I agree United arent playing that wonderfully at the moment but we never seem to get a team fall apart in front of us or make any mistakes.

Indeed, watchign Newcastle roll over for Liverpool was sickening :(

Agreed. Since the turn of the decade, it's been a lot harder for us to win the title than any other team in the country.

Makes it much sweeter when we actually do. :p

How bad is Park? Shocking.

Finishing aside he was the most creative and probably the best player on the pitch tonight I thought.

All these people saying that Nani and Anderson should be starting and moaning at Fergie need to get their facts straight. Anderson is in Brazil to tend to his sick mother and Park has been strides better than Nani recently...

And what do you suppose the first team is?!?

Evra - Banned
Brown - Injured
Ferdinand -Injured
Anderson - Not in country (apparently)
Tevez - See Anderson
Nani - Not good enough at the moment given Park's form
Scholes - 34 years old, not long back from injury and played nearly 90 mins against Stoke.

The team picks itself at the moment.

You know what?

I'd rather have a 5 man midfield and and bring Scholes on for Berbatov and push park and ronaldo further up with Wayne through the middle on his own, because I'm not being harsh when i say Berbatov has been even more ******* **** than usual.

Nice two points dropped then if that had been the case :)

It fell very kindly for him, I'm pretty sure most of your attacking players would have stuck that in.

Yur right but not dis-similar to the goal from Tevez that won the Stoke match a few days ago, it fell very kindly from a Berba assist

job done, we'll need to actually play football against Chelsea though.

Too ******* right lol - they arent playing brilliantly atm, but we do need to play a lot better (at least Evra and hopefullly Rio will be back by then)

- - - - -

We have been playing shockingly badly for weeks/months, and 3 points in the bag / on the table is better than nothing - but sooner or later we are going to be found out if we dont improve drastically

Ferdinand, Anderson and Tevez were massive misses today, there was no creativity in the middle, Fletcher is a spoiler in that his job is to spoil opposition play through being a pest, but he's a nightmare for us because he cannot play 1 touch football, he always takes 2 touches (or more) and then plays it backwards.

How he has so many appearances this season, especially over Anderson who has been brilliant when played I don't know.

Only Rooney played well today and Park worked his socks off, although should have scored. Vidic was as solid as ever, but playing alongside such inexperienced players means he really has to perform or we're knackered.

Thought Neville was very good when he came on and Scholes improved play and passing immeasurably (once Fletcher came off).

The rest of the team were next to useless.

Agree there Nokkon, from listening Scholes actually had a good run out tonight and contributed well to the team.

I don't think he's the same without Keane next to him though.

He's one of the best passers of the ball I've ever seen and he still has this.
In situations where he has little to do defensively and time on the ball, he's great to watch (like today).
In more competitive and faster pace matches, he now struggles imo.
Still, he showed he is still worth a place on the bench.
Regarding the match, the sad thing is that Park probably was our best player. I'd go so far as to even say it was one of his better displays for us.
Sure, the lack of quality and composure were there as always but at least he played with some fire, as though he actually wanted to make something happen for once.
Other than that, the perfomance was pretty poor.
Excluding the 3 points, the only positive I can see is that it was another clean sheet, with VDS looking a bit more stable of late (although he's not had much to do).

And what about the other games they could have played in recent months? Why didn't Ferguson even have them on the bench? Park is complete crap. He rarely scores, rarely assists, rarely does anything at all really. If Nani got the minutes that Ferguson throws at the likes of Fletcher and Park we'd see a completely different Nani. Park is a light weight who doesn't deserve a starting place.

I disagree with your strong views on Park, he's a worker and his qualities were there for all to see in Europe last year, however you're right about Nani, had he gotten the minutes thrown at Fletcher and Park he would be a better, more complete player (although Park will work defensively when Berbatov is in the team, Nani won't).

The annoyance is that Fletcher has been worse than ever this season, especially in the last 4-5 games, yet he's played more games this season than all of last season. Anderson has more talent in his little finger than Fletcher does, yet he has been on the bench many times when Fletcher has started, despite Anderson being better both Offensively and Defensively and Stronger and faster :/.

We all know Fletcher's best role and it's taken a few years to find it out. He's best sitting on the bench and coming on in the dying minutes of a game or to bolster the midfield when we are holding onto a lead. He's done this very well for the last two years, but whenever Ferguson starts him for a long succession of games, any form he had or has goes out the window and is replaced by the Fletcher we've known for years. The headless chicken player who continually gives the ball away.

I would so far as to say I hate Park as a player, he's too small and makes very poor decisions. He couldn't score if his life depended on it, and in the event he beats a man he'll then thump the ball straight into the second man and lose possession. I can't say any of the other players are doing any better at the minute, we couldn't buy a goal. I don't know what Nani or Anderson have done to Fergie recently because they've not been given opportunities. I hope Queiroz leaving is not playing a bigger part here, because Ronaldo has not been himself for months. Park can run his socks off for another team for all I care, there is no end product, and his running and running are of little benefit for us winning a football match. Someone compared him earlier to Kuyt, I'd take Kuyt ahead of him, at least Kuyt can score from time to time.

We don't need Fletcher and Park in the same 11, especially in a match like the last couple. Nani may not be the most consistent player (aprtly because he rarely gets a run of games) But he has the ability to penetrate a defense and score or create a goal.

I cringe when I see Fletcher is playing - and with Park in the same midfield it becomes a real concern, but saying that wouldnt Utd be back in 5th /6th place without some of Fletcher's goals in the early part of this season?

No doubt about it Anderson especially should be getting more time on the field (obviously impossible last night, and Im guessing its the same reason why he wasnt even on the bench on Friday either) even if he cant score for love nor money.

It would be good to see some more of Nani even if his finishing /decision making is as wayward as it was last few games he played - it should improve with experience

Just shows how much the team miss the versatility and reliability of Hargreaves - lets just hope those knees are now on their way to being completely cured.

The annoying thing is we had a team scoring goals for fun last year and playing brilliant football and now there are changes all over the place from then.

Tevez and Rooney replaced by Berbatov and Rooney
Anderson and Carrick replaced by Fletcher and Scholes/Carrick
Giggs/Nani replaced by Park
Brown replaced by Neville/Rafael (although this has been forced)

Hell, even Evans has played more games this season than I'd have hoped for. Last night we had Rodders on the bench, surely he was a better option Fletcher? At least we'd have had someone capable of breaking the net from 30 yards or sending a through ball through (something that if Carrick isn't on form or without Anderson we cannot do).

Just shows how much the team miss the versatility and reliability of Hargreaves - lets just hope those knees are now on their way to being completely cured.
IT would be great to have him back without a doubt, but I don't think he's missed massively in the middle because he was awful for several games last season, bur really shone at RW and RB, but I do acknowledge he's a much better play stopper than Fletcher. I don't think Hargreaves is missed for his reliability though - not the best choice of word :p. The only player worse is Saha!

No, we would have scored much, much earlier, as every single attack going through him broke down.
He wouldn't be half bad if he was able to shift the ball quickly, but he always has to have multiple touches like he's trying to be like Scholes - Except Scholes is one of the greatest players of his generation and Fletcher isn't the best player in his own house.

Like we have recently when he wasnt even on the pitch.......... opppss we didnt did we, there goes that theory
5 goals against Blackburn and 5 goals against Gamba you mean? ;)
