Football **Spoilers** 4th-7th November

Did you guys all miss the stonewall pen in the 2nd half and a very decent shout for a pen in the first half, not to mention the countless corners etc. That decision for the pen was about the first decision that went out way.

Yes, I did, and yes it should have been a pen, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about one of the worst pen decisions I've seen in a while..

Gerrard fouls the defender, by charging into him as he clears it, Referee awards a penalty.

Not only was it not a foul on Gerrard, it was a dangerous challenge by Gerrard.

I agree it was not a penalty but please, the defender did not get anything on the ball so how could he have been clearing it

I know its not exactly related to this topic, but god i hate danny baker on 606; he is an absolute waste of space, talks absolute nonsense and is the worst presenter i have ever heard on the radio when it comes to football. wish they would just sack him cos i always listen to 606, but turn it off when that muppet is on. he is just so, so annoying.

Anyway back to today, liverpool weren't great but i guess these things iron themselves out; they should have got a penalty earlier but that ref made some really lame decisions today!

We also should have had 2 corners and a clear pen for a hand ball. Masch had the ball blasted at him from less than 5 yards away so that could never have been deemed as intentional, don't know of any contentious free kicks in our favour either.

Not really, it was certainly at him faster, but not as fast as what gave you a free kick around the same time period.

You had a lot going for you all game. You're going to have to concede that.

Liverpool's players must step into manure everytime they walk into the ground. These things will hopefully iron themselves out later on in the season when it counts ;)

You said you only watched about 10 mins of that game

I thought I'd said about 20 mins. In the second half that was all one way traffic in Athletico's favour, hence the word seemed rather than were :)

Carragher and Masherano both hand balled in the box in as much a fashion as the Atletico player.

So they should have had two.

Carragher doesn't get handballs against him  Did you not hear that one? I don't think it's allowed.

lol, people shouldn't listen to pundits, the first "stone wall penalty" keane miscontrols, the ball is heading out of the box, the Athletico player comes in to get inbetween is 2 inches from using his stomach to push the ball out and it just misses and then hits his hand, which is by his side. Several things to take into consideration, Keane had miscontrolled, the ball was on its way out of the box, the contact was accidental, it barely changed the direction of the ball and there was no way in hell Keane was getting to the ball.

THe penalty Athletico should have had, the contact was accidental, Mach's arm was way up though thats expected when sliding in for a block, however the ball was on its way to a player in the box, the touch was not insignificant and it did stop a chance at a shot. The main difference was that, Mach's touch took it away from a player and to the keeper and it was heading to a dangerous area, the other one it was heading out of a dangerous area with no chance of anything happening or a Pool player getting to it, both touches were accidental, one was a penalty, one wasn't.

Getting truly fed up of Gerrards diving, the thing that gets to me is, he's a really bad diver in both sense's of the words. He does it very often, so he's bad in the sense he does it all the time but he's also awful at it, I've yet to see a single dive from him that looked believable, which is all the more shocking considering how many penalties he gets.

Was it the sheffield utd game or something a few years back, 3 penalties in one game, i think two from Gerrard dives. one of them he was 2 yards clear of the nearest player, had overrun it so was getting tight to the byline and just flopped, so utterly clear there was no contact but he got it.

Anyone know why Aguero got booked? Surely he must have said something to the ref because there's no law against booting it in the stand from the kickoff.

Give over. As weringo said, neither could be deemed intentional in a million years. The Atletico played messed up his control saw the ball getting away from him and moved his arm into the ball.
Yes, I did, and yes it should have been a pen, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about one of the worst pen decisions I've seen in a while..
Fair enough, just given the post you were responding to made it seem as if you were saying we were lucky.

Well we weren't lucky. Bit strange to give an opinion on a match which you only watched very briefly and iinm even said you weren't paying full attention (or words to that effect) either.

After the Lescott penalty incident last year everybody now seems to imagine Carra getting away with pens every week :D

The bit about handballs is new though :)

Either that or not waiting for the whistle. The ref completely lost the plot by then though so could be anything.

Unsporting conduct perhaps? Was it a teddy-out moment?

Yes, a little petulant but I still don't see why you can't do it. He wasn't blasting it at a person, it was a simple game restart and he kicked the ball forwards so I can't see anything wrong with it myself (unless as mentioned he didn't wait for the whistle). Xabi Alonso would get booked every match if refs were like that everytime someone kicked the ball 55 yards towards the goal :)

You know when the opposition scores and you see the keeper/defender just blast the rebound back into their own net? That's 100x worse (since it could arguably be called timewasting) but you never see them get booked for that.

I bloody hate Liverpool and tonight is an example of why, luckiest team on earth.

Been down the pub watching it and my mate called a 94th minute penalty in favour of Liverpool before added time was even announced. Predictable as anything and an absolute joke of a penalty.

You can say that about Chelsea and Man united when playing at home.

What did you think of all the shocking decisions that went against us? Or you choosing to ignore them?
