for asus striker users

that 1303 bios works an treat ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/Stricker Extreme/SE1303.zip

Vcore Voltage: 1.5375
Memory Voltage:1.85
1.2v HT Voltage:1.65
NB Core Voltage:1.65
SB Core Voltage:1.60
CPU VTT Voltage:1.50

temps are below 70c (mobo 59, Cores 68/63/59/59 me thinks lapping is needed)

chipset is 45-47c now (was 60c+) i have one of them heat asus blowers on top of my video card thats blowing air onto the lower part chip set heatsink (warrning if your going to do it make sure the screws on the Asus Clip on Blower are faceing the Cpu heat sink not the 8800 GTX card or you mite short it out)

glad your sorted m8,only prob i have with that bios version is my comp wont boot with my razer copperhead plugged in,i have to wait till windows has loaded

love my mx1000 logitech mouse (loads of buttons around it, just wish it had profiles)

can you not get yours at 3.6 try lowering the voltage an little cooling the north chip seems to have worked well

i post pics on how to got my mobo and how to stop my PSU fan kicking into turbo mode

AndyOcUK - I went to make the changes to the bios as per your earlier posts on the first page but the following is all greyed out and can't be changed?

FSB (QDR), Mhz: 1540
Actual FSB (QDR), Mhz: 1540
MEM (DDR), Mhz: 800
Actual MEM (DDR), Mhz: 800

Any ideas on what to do?

change it to unlinked

i guess my stable overclock was not so stable {pc hardlocks up when running prime95 25.6 after 3-10 mins} notching the Vcore up untill its stable at 1.5675 now {not locked up yet} interestingly temps are only 69-71 around

the settings that was he posted must be the working ones :)

you come yours is running at 3.46 andyocuk

make sure you not got overclocking set to manual

any other advice
my pc still locks up when running FAH after 10-20 mins, Prime on the other hand seems ok now as it did not lock me pc up

Set to auto and manual and both time it's all still greyed out.

Bugger, I feel another CMOS reset coming on!

FSB 450x8

Folding stable now temps are an little odd
CPU temp is 61c cores 71/67/61/61
need to lap the cpu and heat sink i guess never done it before got an link in here for lapping ?, the heat sink does not seem to match the temps that core temp reports or everest

but will it stay stable and my PSU is in turbo mode + 4 120fans
it could allso be the motherboard is halting when the board overheats may not be the cpu

Firstly I just want to say thanks lads especially AndyOcUK for this thread. I've spent 6 months (albeit a bit half-arsed) trying to get a decent overclock out of my striker and Q6600. I could never get it passed 2.7Ghz and remain stable.

I was on the verge of lobbing the mobo on the bay and going for the striker 2 (which meant new RAM too), but thanks to you lot I got mine to 3.5Ghz yesterday an managed to complete 3dMark06 and bested my previous score by 1500. Happy as a pig in ****!

I was using the 1503 bios to get that, but after seeing Andy's link for 1504 I had to have a crack with that. Flashed ok (did it in windows but never again!) but had the hard reboot at post thing :(

CMOS reset took care of that and now back up and running and eager to push for more. Haven't manged to get passed 1556 FSB yet so hoping the new bios will solve that. Will try tomorrow for 1800 with x8 for 3.6 and post results.

Brilliant work all, and thanks for sharing the info! ;):)

after 7 months my striker extreme died, didn't oc it (couldn't really, pos board) I was initially annoyed, 7months old and it's dead. But then i realised it was a blessing. Now got myself a nice maximus formula which is much better. The whole system runs much smoother and quicker, vista's score went up from 5.1 to 5.7 and am currently running my qx6700 at 3.5gig without breaking a sweat.
