For goodness sake Tesco, sort your '[insert generic name] Pay' out.

I'm sure I've paid for shops/fuel over £100 with Apple Pay without any issue, but recently it tells me it's over the limit and I have to use my bloody card.

That's a low limit.

I do big shop online and for 2 of us that's now topping 150-180.

Wasnt long ago that topped out at 120.
Its a good measure of inflation as I haven't really changed purchasing habits.

lack of offers, you could always get a big onken/yeo Valley type pot for 1 pound. Now it's nearly 2 with no offers.

We shop at tesco because its local and points are quite handy. Can't be bothered with aldi/lidl as they don't deliver.

The fuel limit is 120 now for contactless. Used to be 100

Annoyingly the fuel stations I use most still have their own £45 limit :( especially with current fuel prices it is a bit LOL. It is nice being able to avoid touching the buttons everyone else is especially with an uptick in COVID and colds/flu currently :s

The decision to raise the contactless limit from £45 to £100 was made by HM Treasury and the Financial Conduct Authority.

The FCA also confirmed the threshold for multiple contactless transactions before a customer is required to enter their PIN will also rise from £130 to £300.

Google and Apple pay don't have a specific limit, that's down to the retailer.

I ditched Tesco for Asda.

Even though I was a weekly online customer of Tesco's for 13 years from 2007-2020, they never offered me a delivery slot during the lockdowns. However, as a new customer of Asda (never used them before), they offered me a slot every week without fail. So yes there is no such thing as customer loyalty i.e. 13 years vs 0 years, but I have stuck with Asda as of December 2022 (and just renewed my yearly delivery contract) out of principle.
Why's are you loyal to a supermarket

It's also down to the retailer what contactless limit they want to allow, it's just the maximum that is set out in the regulations.

One of the few benefits from Brexit. We are no longer held to the same limits as the EU.

Using a card on a phone shouldn't have a limit as the act of unlocking the phone to use the card effectively counts as entering a PIN.
