For the gym rats

Hey guys,

For the next 3 weeks I am limited to a local crappy gym which unfortunately has the grand total of dumbbells and dip bars.
?
Anyone got an imaginative idea as to how I can perform some weighted dips?

Time to do some stretching. I've been spending 10-20 minutes every other day just stretching out, plus 5 minutes before and after every workout I stretch. Really helps.

Yeah hopefully i'll get there eventually and it will help ease any stress I get when squatting and deadlifting.

Until then they are pretty much out of the equation as it seems to cause my pain.

Had a good leg day today. Upped my squats to 60kg for 4 sets, then lunges at 30kg for 3 sets, then leg press at 90kg for 3 sets. Was exhausted afterwards! Pretty pleased as I weigh 65kg - I'm still in my first month training and I feel like I haven't found my strength limit yet. Going to try upping my deadlift to 60kg on monday as I reckon I can take it! :)

Edit: By the way, I think I'm the only guy at my gym doing deadlifts! Is there something they're not telling me?!

Had an awesome session yesterday...

My last two upper sessions were poor and my lifts were down, then I got on the bench yesterday and flat db benched 12.5KG more than last week!

Really happy, managed 9x30KG and then 7x32.5KG. Especially pleased with the second one as the total is more than I weigh! (63KG or so)

Was really strange, I knew after my first proper set that I just felt way stronger than usual, really strange feeling but I was loving it ;D

good work fella :D
some days in the gym everything works perfectly and you walk out feeling great, the more of these we have the better :D

one of the great things about what you have felt is it shows you are starting to learn more about your body, from this you will be able to tell what works and what doesnt. When you find the thing that works, milk it for all its worth. Some people believe you should change things up often, others do fine by doing what works best for them (and just learning to perfect it (Dorian Yates would be the best example of this)).

F*%&!!!

BB shrugs, shoulders up, shoulders down, shoulders up, shoulder down (quickly), other shoulder down.

bugger, my neck hurts :<

pain pain pain arrrghhhh

Deep heat rocks though, especially when doubled up : cream first then a liberal spray from the can :D:D hehe

Similar to the injury that's kept me decked for the past 10 days or so :(

Shrugs suck ass... I've hurt my neck several times when pushing hard on them... though it was cleans that were the culprit this time!

I know loads of people who've hurt themselves shrugging though... can't be good??

Loads of people do, except for those ones who round the shoulder while shrugging, which is worse apparently!!! odd that :/

ive got a couple of other trap exercises i can do, so will move to them next week.
think i might have to give squats a miss on weds though :/

oh oh oh!!!
almost forgot to post about idiot in the gym!

so im there doing smith shoulder presses (5x5, so a pretty hefty weight) when suddenly i hear *CRASH*. rack the weight to make sure someone not injured or atleast just not dropping weights near me. cant see anything so go to carry on set... *CRASH*. wtf? *CRASH*.

Now, there are some idiots who drop weights or throw them at the end of the set, but this bloke was deadlifting, well, half deadlifting. he lifted the weight then just dropped it from full extension! then again and again.
loads of us looking over at him like wtf. he noticed, but proceeded to do another set.

once he had almost everyones attention (we all seemed to be waiting for him to finish a set so that we could start without the distraction!) he tried to rep out by lowering the weight... he managed 2 reps then dropped the third.

bloody idiot broke a 5kg disc as well, snapped in half.
