For those that wanted pics of my new mondeo

AFAIK the bushes are now available from Ford!
I stand corrected! I haven't had to replace a beam myself but I know of a few people who have. Hasn't been for a while though, must've been before they started selling the bushes. :)

I did mention that very last run-outs had more 'alloys'.. but it was only in the extremely small window of production from July 1999 to Jan 2000 when the new model came along..

The new model was not released until October 2000 on an X plate. Mk2 Mondeos continued to be sold officially through dealers until mid 2001, the last being on Y plates. Production of the Mk2 ceased in late 2000 and certainly not Jan 2000.

Anyhoo, whilst jousting, I am starting to see the perfect VFM bargain for my next cheap commuter is the Mondeo Zetec TDCI 115, 2001 Y for £3.5K (75K miles).. I will now bow to your superior knowledge and ask if there is anything to watch out for on these early new shape models??

Yes - make sure it actually is a TDCi becuase it probably isn't. The TDCi was introduced in Summer 01 but only in 130bhp form. The 115bhp TDCi did not come until later, the 115bhp engine around at that time being a TDDi. This is an older, far more nasty engine. For some reason people keep pretending they are TDCi's when they sell them, so be careful :)

Other than that... rust on the rear doors due to a manufacturing issue - Ford are repairing this for free, but it's worth looking for. The only other Mk3 issue is the fact rear bushes go and require the rear subframe to be replaced...
