needmorespeeds going to have some fun for sure if he starts tinkering with that V6, quite a bit of performance to be got out of that with the right mods :D

Stu

would you mind if i had you intake manifolds and throttle body ;) :D

I am considering taking the V6 badges of and putting TD or 16v on instead ;) :D

id actually like you to revoke my membership, your boss should know that on the basis that you are making the revoke this is not clear in your terms and cannot be legally enforced, so somone will prove that to you publicly.

your terms are not clear against me saying "woo a mondeo" and your boss will tell you to leave it. ;)

revoke me, show your true power ;) i dare you

^^ Issues by any chance ?

Only that he couldnt tell a v-twin from a straight 4 engine note

;)

Tidy looking mondeo mate, not my choice of colour, but they are good cars whatever anyone says...

:D

Nice purchase! I had one and it really was a joy to own. It *needs* a nice aftermarket exhaust though - makes it sounds sweet. Ask anyone who remembers mine ;)

Nice clean motor..

Even though IN MY OPINION they are very very dull cars with little going for them in standard trim, with an RSAP on, it would certainly promote it to credible..

There is always an appeal of a V6 in old sheeps clothing for some people, but for me there are nicer looking standard V6 cars for the money though..

Of course it's dull, it's the ubiquitous repmobile! It's still the best 'old repmobile' for the money though and certainly goes well, stops well and handles well. As a cheap used buy and an all-round package, it's very hard to beat IMO.

Very nice buy :).

i quite like the way it looks as standard but i agree with you with the rsap kit it looks a lot better.

Does any one know if the v6 mondeos have different suspension setups to the 2.0 as this car handles better then my old 2.0 mondeo :)

I like the idea about the badges some people's jaws would be hitting the floor, as for my intake manifold and throttle body....erm....no :p

Best think to do mate is get yourself on a few mondeo forums and you will usually find that sort of stuff for sale regularly or of course just visit the bay.

By changing those parts you will get a performance increase but it still won't be near the ST200 as there are internal parts which are different as well but it will help ;)

Also I would advise you NOT to put an induction kit on it, the standard airbox with an ST200 throttle body will be sufficient in some instances people have had a performance drop by doing this so best kept standard ;)

spoilsport :p :D

i am already on MEG have been for a while if i was to fit an induction kit it would be a pipercross viper so that it's shielded from the engine heat :)

ST200:

Thanks for the comments m8

The car has had full powerflow decat exhaust system, bomz air induction kit, koni suspension all round, 18" bk racing 299 alloys, dastek unichip. The next mod soon is modified y-pipe :)

I want to do the svt parts like throttle body, upper and lower inlet manifolds but i no nowt about engines and its all the hassle of getting them over here from usa.

TBH the SVT parts in my opinion aren't worth the hasstle, AFAIK after fitting them you need to get a re-map done and then you see your fuel consumption go down even further, lol.

Out of interest how is that unichip working for you, did you have a re-map after getting it fitted and how is you fuel consumption now. I've heard a LOT of horror stories from people who have fitted them getting VERY LOW mpg, mine isn't brilliant I suppose I currently average about 22-23mpg around town and about 30mpg on a mixture of rural and urban driving but as a general rule of thumb I am getting on average about 120miles or just under to £20 of petrol which I'm happy with as I don't drive like Miss Daisy :D

the SVT parts are exactly the same as the st200 parts they just tend to be cheaper buying them from america then getting them here :)
Think you'll find the SVT parts are different, again over the ST200 parts they offer a performance increase and are from the US Mondeo, the Contour.

The SVT throttle body is slightly larger then the one on my ST200, might have to get one actually :p

Whilst I agree they look dull as standard, all RSAP does is make them look great. It doesn't change anything else about the car, is your only judge of a car the way it looks or something? Does the rest of the cars ability mean nothing to you? ;)

There are better looking standard cars for the money - the Peugeot 406 V6 instantly springs to mind - but there are none which offer the Mondeos handling, reliability, equipment levels, value and pricing. With RSAP as well it just completes the package. Don't forget that ST24's have RSAP as standard.

The suspension is fundamentally the same - AFAIK there are some subtle differences to account for the extra weight of the V6 engine, but nothing to cause the V6 to be noticeably better handling than the 2.0. Infact, some people say the extra weight of the front of the V6 means the 2.0 is marginally better, in Ghia X form at least - ST24's and ST200's have revised suspension setups.

You'll probably find your 2.0 had shot dampers or something. People don't bother replacing the dampers as they age - after 140k miles or something they are past their best and the car won't handle as well as it could, or would with a simple change of dampers.

Mine hasn't - I should think it's as it's an R reg and it wasn't fitted as standard at that point?

Sorry, forgot to mention, don't forget that ST24 hatchbacks had RSAP as standard throughout production life, whereas the saloon did not :)

You either have a saloon, an early estate, or a very dodgy hatchback :p

It's a saloon, that'll be the reason then :p

Of course looks are only one factor, but in this case, for me, it's just too dull..

And also IMO, the other abilities are just par for the course, the 406/Vectra/Insert other rep mobile here/ all have equally good abilities in different areas.. all very much personal, but none the less, their popularity shows they are all capable of pleasing many people.. but that's another discussion..

My point is Ford seem to do all or nothing, its RSAP (really improves things) or nothing, no minor tat additions to just lift it from bland.. Take the anti-mondeo, the Vectra, and it's nigh on impossible to not get reasonable looking alloys/rear spoiler etc on a V6 or infact any trim level above LS.. That was my initial point..

never the less, it's a very clean example, and even though it's not my bag, I see enough 'good' in those pics to warrant some encouraging response..

There was a range of options such as various different alloy wheels for the Mk2, and a rear boot spoiler was available from the cars launch in 1996. Also mesh grilles etc on the Zetec?

Contrast this with the 406 which was available... with or without foglights, basically. Only a handful ever had Spoilers, so few that its questionable it was ever an option. Plus there is a single style of alloy wheel available on the Mk1 406...

their popularity shows they are all capable of pleasing many people

The popularity of the 95-02 Vectra shows only that Vauxhall were great at offering enormous discounts to fleet companies :p
