Ford Focus RS500

The Focus RS isn't going to be 4 wheel drive in the near future as Ford don't have a suitable 4 wheel drive platform.

Depends what you class as "near future" I suppose. The current RS will never be 4WD, but the next (Mk3) RS is going to be 4WD with an electric motor (circa 100ps) powering the real wheels and a 2.0litre 4pot turbo engine (circa 250ps) for the front, allegedly.

The original RS500 was named after the power output of the race car, not the amount made. It seems a bit sad to name a marketing run-out special after such a great car Ford had in the past.

So by that logic the RS200 had 200bhp in the race car and the RS2000 had well, lots.

A minimum 500 Evolution cars were required to be made after the base requirement of 5000 homologation cars.

The RS200 wasn't a run-out special, unless you start including some of the switchgear. :D

You're forgiven :p

Ford have been sticking RS badges on tat for loads of years, it's just the tag they add to the 'performance' cars to carry on the heritage, nothing more. Remember the MK6 Escort R2000? only 150ps, now that's a car undeserving of the RS badge.

I still think they should leave special names like 'RS500' or 'RS200' alone, the 'RS2000' and 'Mexico' mk6(?) escorts were especially annoying. ;)

Absolutely lovely, however would be SO paranoid over the matte finish, one ding, scrap with a bag etc.... it'll show a mark, can't polish that out!

Also, with the "£35k lolool" brigade, its a special limited run, they cant price it at £30k or under as thats pretty much the price of the normal RS.

People seem to think these will be bought because they are the best car for the money, just lol.

To let people know..

This 35k RS doesnt even get you full leather recaros and sat nav, they are optional extras. Ford really trying to squeeze the most money out of people who will buy one.

Would I want one...YES
Would I buy one...NO!
