Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Just spoke to another ford they are taking pre orders
but they want £5,0000 down
And they cannot guarantee any prices or specification. all we know is that there will be a hardtop and soft top version with 2.3 ecoboost turbo or 5.0 v8 and possible 3.7 v6 but this is not confirmed

3.7l will not come to the UK, it is pretty pointless, the 2.3l is faster and more frugal.

In fact the V6 is the base model and the EcoBoost is the middle one, which like Gibbo says its more powerful and more frugal. Hoping it'll sound pretty nice too, but that may be where the V6 has the edge.

Hi there

Power and weights confirmed! :D

V8 GT:
Power: 435 BHP / 400Lbft
Weight: 1680kg manual / 1700kg auto :(

2.3 ECO Boost:
Power: 310BHP / 320Lbft
Weight: 1590kg manual / 1610kg auto

The power figures are very nice for both cars but man the new V8 lump must be rather heavy just like the 5.0 block used in the Shelby's was as they were noise heavy as well. This is quite a shame. :(

Infact I think the 2.3l car will be the faster car with simply a remap, air filter and exhaust, it will kick out around 360-400BHP and 400lb/ft but weighs in at 100kg less. More power from the GT won't be easy or cheap, unless you fit a supercharger which also is not cheap but would put the car in the 600-700BHP region. Problem is that turbo's 4 cylinder will never even sound remotely as good as the V8 and NA power or supercharged power is unbeatable!

I've also seen one in the flesh, now before I comment further it was red and I think totally the wrong colour, but it just looks stranged, far too big and not so well proportioned, just looked like a giant blob and I was put off. Inside however the car was stunning, quality and toys everywhere, very impressive.

Not driven one and even though its 1680kg car, due to how wide it is, the aero and the fact Ford seem to have the handling properly sorted I can imagine it will be a very good handling car.

Still no confirmation on price but I am not 100% up for it any more, infact I look at how much 700-800BHP Shelby GT500's go for and just think I could look at something like that.

OR wish Dodge bring the Hellcat to the UK as I will drive down tomorrow and put my name down, it just seems to be like the best muscle car that has ever being released, totally bonkers but somehow it can use its 707BHP through the rear wheels?

Hi there

Yep seen the GT350 and GT350R, this will be a 500BHP NA version, so it will be bloody epic engine wise. :)

Hopefully they will be able to shed 150-200kg of the weight with this version to, also interesting to see Ford actually testing at the Ring, it has being rumoured the new Mustang chassis is an absolute warrior when it comes to handling, rumoured to be very capable, so this fettled GT350 could be a very quick car. Won't come until late 2016 though!

The power and weight are a little disappointing, especially for the 2.3 vesion.

Possibly a meaningless comparison but its power to weight is only marginally higher than my little Fiesta - 194 vs 185.

Hopefully in the real world it will live up to our expectations (and specifically hide its weight well).

Means very little though as EVO demonstated racing a Westfield/Caterham against a Cayman, both have same power to weight, yet the Cayman with its higher horsepower and larger engine absolutely destroyed the lightweight car.

Also the 2.3l just like any other turbo'd engine will release a lot of horse just from simply bolt-ons and a remap, I can see 400BHP from that engine coming easy and not for a lot of money.

Wasn't that in a drag race though, what about something like laptimes

Yep.
On the road lap times are pretty meaningless, you want in-gear acceleration, 0-60, 30-100, 60-100 etc. and it was this which the drag race demonstrated very well that power to weight can be meaningless against outright power. :)

On a track yes power to weight becomes very important, but on the road power is far more usable and noticeable.
