Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Need to see prices first, and maybe a few test drives, but I'd seriously consider putting pen to paper for this car, but it would likely have to be the V8 for me, hope it's not an obscene price.

Has to have the V8 - this is very interesting!

If it's got decent handling it'll make it even more tempting.

Dude, I took you out in mine. It handled superb and with a LIVE AXLE.

This is a 10yr newer design with an IRS, it will handle superb out the factory and with some modding which will come both plenty and cheap it could be made to be impressive.

The success will come down to UK pricing of the car, if we get the V8 sub 30k and the Turbo sub 25k, its a winner. :)

With them now going to IRS, I wonder if tuning and parts people in the States are going to offer kits to drag racers to convert them back to a live axle? ;)

I would be willing to bet money that they will mess up the pricing and have it nose to nose with the BMW M4 and Merc C63.

It would never sell in volume then, only Ford and Mustang fans/followers would buy it, which is actually probably a huge amount of people.

But to sell real volume, they need to undercut BMW and Mercedes as even though I'd preferred the Mustang myself for sure, most would always choose BMW/Merc over Ford if pricing is similar.

List price Focus ST-3 is currently £25k (I know no-one actually pays that), I think the four cylinder Mustang will be priced higher than this as a minimum, and obviously the V8 higher still.

Not a chance IMO.

Ford have said they do not expect it to sell in high numbers anyway. It's more about image boosting.

The Convertible is on the Ford Site, So much excitable feelings is going off for me right now, Just need to try and get £30k by 2015, i'm already £4k there :D

A mustang that has an option of a 4 cylinder engine no matter how good is sacrilegious.

I'm not looking forward to seeing a raft of the 4cyl at car shows after a few years with cheap ebay "roush" body-kits and chrome wheels. There is too many now.

A Muscle Car without a V8 is like Sex without an Orgasm! :(

I know it was more of a flippant tongue in cheek comment ;)

If they achieve that pricing I can see me getting one in due course.

People are also spazzing over how good the M125i is, yet that's a 4 pot rwd BMW.

There is no M125i, people are 'spazzing' over how good the M135i is, which is a 6 pot.

That said I share your sentiment. The internet is full of people who post things like 'OMGZ NEED A V8 IN MY LYF' as if car ownership is some sort of box ticking excercise. The 4 pot Mustang should be judged on its merits, if it sounds good and performs well, great. The performance offered from the V6 Mustang I put 2500 miles on was absolutely excellent and spoiled only by the horrible, horrible gearbox.

Omgz need a v8 in my lyf!!! ;)

I've ruled out the 4 cylinder turbo, not because I don't think a mustang should have a 4 cylinder, but because I have a 5 cylinder turbo currently, so would like to make a change to an NA V8 not to a 4 cylinder turbo, the 4 cylinder they put in will probabley be a pretty decent engine overall, and will hopefully mean the mustang will sell a bit more and not be consigned to a novelty and restricted to a short production life in this country.

Just hope they get the pricing right, how many £55k VXR8 GTS' have sold in this country again? (Yes I know it's quite a bit more powerful than the mustang :P)

No, you have it totally wrong. People want V8s because they are really great to drive, torque all over with proper transient response, great sound, awesome. A 4 pot turbo just cannot compare. The turbo model will still be good though, 300hp, forged motor as stock, LSD as stock, proper rear end. There's a lot to like even if it's more like a Silvia than a Mustang. If it's too heavy and/or too expensive it will be a failure though.
