Ford Mustang to be released in EU

I'm so tempted to buy a GT350 when the warranty is up on my AM, I'm so impressed with what Ford have done with it. Looking forward to driving one soon.

Half the cost of a GT4?

Yes they are over 100k at present if you want one. ;)

GT350 is sub 50k, but its a pointless argument because us Europeans cannot get a GT350 unless we import our own LHD model which shipped works out around £48,000 with the Tech package. :)

Though a 350 is no doubt the faster car, a Mustang will drive nothing like a GT4/911, nothing bad how it drives, they just drive different, simple as that. Both amazing in their own rights. :)

My opinion this thing is more of a drivers car than anything BMW, Audi or Mercedes have, the value is through the roof and I can't even see anything from Porsches stable rivalling this as a drivers car or the performance it has on offer. I mean it will murder a GT4 at half the cost and can probably keep sight of a GT3 at 1/3rd of the cost. I love Porsche, I own one, but Ford have built a true contender here, bring it to Europe please. :)
All of the current hyper hatches come close to that list with less than £1k spent on software flashes or minor part upgrades.
BUT as we all know, on paper specs are one thing but it's the feel, drama, dynamics, brand appeal, history etc etc... which makes the GT4, GT3 and all of the other high priced motor racing company specials appeal to owners.

For one a GT4 weighs around 1350kg and the Mustang 5 GT about 1750kg. That extra 400kg is going to be noticeable and the lower weight is one element of the higher cost of the GT4.

Hyper hatches do nothing for me. :)

Of course, hence why I said I love my 911. On track Ford have a rival to Europes greatest at a far lower price. :)

To drive, a Porsche will be a completely different steer, just like its completely different to say a GTR. My 911 a lowly Carrera will feel completely different to a Mustang, some things it will do better and others it will not, there is no car that is a clear winner at everything. That is why if I won the lottery I'd probably never sell my cars and just have one huge collection. :D

Weight is not always a bad thing, Nissan proved this with the GTR. :)

Also weight has little to do with cost, if cars prices were determined by low weight then Lotus, Caterhams would be the most expensive cars on the planet or another argument a base 991 C2 manual with no options weighs less than a 991 GT3, yet the heavier GT3 cost vast amounts more. Or when 997.1 was released, they weighed less than 996 GT3's but cost less. Only very specialist low-weight cars that make extensive use are very expensive materials such as carbon cost more, but these are generally super/hyper cars. :)

Surely the GT350 has all of that given its 50 year history which is why it can be compared to the likes of the GT4, GT3 in terms of owner appeal.

Hi there

This Mustang is very impressive:

The acceleration beyond 200mph is what is most impressive!!!!

3.4s 0-60mph
1/4 mile in 10.9s at 133mph, yes 133mph !!!

The Whipple kit is the one to go for, I shall also with time change out the stock plastic aero parts to CF, just because I love a bit of CF and it will look great against magnetic grey. :)

Hi there

So today I went to finally see the car I have purchased in the flesh. In short I am very happy with my purchase and very surprised at the quality of the overall package.

TC Harrison Ford in Derby have the first RHD UK Mustang, so far it is the only one in the UK and a showroom only car, no test drives, but they are willing to start it but the manager has the keys and he was not present when I visited today.

Good points:
- Interior quality is superb, mostly leather on the doors, dash, centre console, feels very premium, better than my E46 M3 and the leather used seems nicer and softer than that in my 911 but I'd say the interior is also not quite 911 finish and fit, but certainly up there with E46 M3 and I do mean one with an interior. ;)
- Seats are absolutely superb, they hug you really well but the they are so comfortable, really soft, some of the nicest seats I have ever sat in and the driving position is superb.
- Exterior panels and panel gaps all seemed spot on, could not spot anything.
- Its just a very nice all round car, way beyond any other Ford I ever sat in quality wise.
- Gear change, feels absolutely superb, the throw is great, I cannot believe this but it feels better than that of my 911, Ford seem to have done a great job here.
- Boot seems more than large enough, plenty of room for a couple of golf bags.
- Engine bay, 5.0l enough said!
- The silver/metal effect trim on the dash looks really nice in person and no idea if it is fake or real, feels fine to the touch and the leather on dash is a nice touch.
- Rear lights look better in the flesh.

Bad points:
- Steering wheel is nice but a little too thin, but I have a GT350 wheel on the way which is thicker and part suede/leather, so a none issue for me.
- There are some cheap plastics in use, the ones around the electric mirrors are nasty.
- Ride height is not so bad, but a little lower, say 20-30mm and it would be spot on.
- Rear lights still stand out too much, red would look better, I have medium tints on the way for mine to make them blend a bit better and not look so 1990 Lexus effect. ;)
- I don't like the rear decklid GT fake filler cap, got a new rear decklid on the way with running pony badge on it. :)

Now the excitement is setting in, I've even ordered an exhaust along with some other upgrades. :D

I tried to take as many images as possible which will hopefully answer peoples questions about UK cars, let the photos do the talking..........

looks cool, those wheels need spacing out, I am not too keen on them either. Are you going for different wheels?

I've got 25mm front spacers and 23mm spacer at home for mine. ;)
Same wheels but in silver on my car. :)

Am also order the FRPP handling kit for mine which is new dampers, springs, anti-roll bars and bushes. Drops the car 30mm front and 20mm rear, so mine will remedy all the above.

Then in a year or so time once worn tyres out wheels shall be changed to some 19/20x10 fronts and 19/20x11 rears with some very wide Michelin Super Sport tyres. :D

Very nice! How is the pedal positioning? My main worry is that because it was designed for LHD, the conversion might have affected the pedal positioning for the RHD.

Also, any plans on getting the front tri-bar DRLs to work?

Nice pics man.
Those light clusters are definitely different to the ones out here and I think the GT badge on the rear is also.
Does look weird seeing one in RHD tho, really really nice cars.

Pedals are spot on, no issue at all and all nicely weighted.

Yes I have the US rear decklid with running pony coming for mine, the lights I shall tint a little darker which I think will fit very nicely with black decklid and magnetic body work. :)
