Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Capture3_1.jpg

They put the steering wheel on the right but kept the hand brake on the left? lol

Lashout Looks good in red, really shows off the aero parts. :)
Tell us more about the drive mate, how was ride quality and dampening on poor roads, does it pull like a train all the way to limiter, gear change, clutch etc?

Ford emailed me again today, managed to bring my build forward another week to November 9th, I've gotta say for me communication has being excellent. I've got the head of Europe emailing me, head of Bristol Street UK and my local Stoke dealership.

Excellent communicatons so far, really don't want them to pull it forward any more though as was hoping it will arrive in UK February as then I can collect March 1st, if it comes January the temptation will be to high and I will just go and get it.

Had a couple of offers on the Porsche but a bit low ball at 27-28k so rejecting for now, think it can fetch 30k+ all day long and its not even being advertised for a week yet. :)

What is really bad I don't only have a shopping list of parts to buy for the Mustang but so far I have already ordered a GT350 steering wheel and 25/23mm wheel spacers for it. :D

Yeah a bit lazy, perfectly placed for naughty passengers, but is it a problem? No! :)

Actually it is for me as I drive with my real hand on the drift knob and my prosthetic hand on the gear knob, so the LHD handbrake makes the cupholders unusable /sulk :P

Luckily I won't be able to afford one until it's a few years old anyway by which point somebody may have brought out a RHD handbrake conversion kit or something :)

Bit of a naughty handbrake that, My sister had a Volvo S40 with the silly handbrake next to the passenger, I nearly had a broken finger from it.

Think it actually came back with a recall cause of the dangerous finger breaking handbrake.

So glad this is coming to the UK, Been wondering what V8 Car I wanted since I've now experienced 4cyl and 6cyl (My case a 3.0 Straight six) engines, Mustang will most definitely be my choice.... it'll be a V10 after that xD

More shocked it actually has an old style handbrake!

Clearly Ford haven't changed the console design due to costs, so it does beg the question if savings could have been had by fitting an Electronic handbrake system.

Don't like E-handbrakes, doesn't feel natural, Driven an insignia with one and I was constantly checking before I get out the car to see if its on, left me paranoid :(

See for me I practically never use a handbrake anyway. Whilst driving I use foot brake or clutch and when parking I always leave in gear anyway.

Gibbo (and others!), just to reiterate my post #650 in this thread - the more I read about engine upgrades to the Coyote 5.0, the more I think that oil pump upgrades are essential. I'd hate to see anyone have to deal with an annihilated motor.

Is this as big as job as it looks (engine out)?

I won't be doing much to the engine at all for the first few months, want that warranty in place should I get any gremlins or running in issues. :)

It's a damned sight easier with the engine out, but possible with it in situ.

Something I will consider for sure. I shall be going with the Whipple kit, already spoken to Whipple about having a larger pulley (less power) and the basic kit makes 675-725BHP. Add in their throttlebody which I'd want as improves efficiency and stress on engine but increases power to close to 800BHP.

They thought I was rather odd requesting less power, I said ideally I would like to start with 600BHP as for me what use is power if there is no traction.

But my only engine modifications to begin with shall be a cold air intake and catback exhaust, which don't effect warranty. I might a few months later add a tune, circa 460-470BHP with above to see how it is.

But the focus shall just be on looks really and enjoying it, Ford did quite a good job on this car out the box, even though it can already be improved vastly in handling as has being demonstrated by Ford themselves with 350 and 350R.:)

I wont be doing an SC upgrade at all during the first 3 years. I will be having on PCP with the intention to buy at the end but who knows what will happen so very few mods on mine. I'll probably change cat back exhaust and keep the original for the end and maybe a few other tweaks to looks mainly.

A real shame Ford won't bring RHD versions or even bring it to Europe. I think they are missing a huge opportunity as this would fly out I reckon if it was £49,000 with tech pack.

My opinion this thing is more of a drivers car than anything BMW, Audi or Mercedes have, the value is through the roof and I can't even see anything from Porsches stable rivalling this as a drivers car or the performance it has on offer. I mean it will murder a GT4 at half the cost and can probably keep sight of a GT3 at 1/3rd of the cost. I love Porsche, I own one, but Ford have built a true contender here, bring it to Europe please. :)

Hi there

Is it bad I've already ordered and taken delivery of some of my modifications? :D

My plans for my Magnetic V8 GT PP Manual are:

ENGINE / EXHAUST

Steeda cold air intake with restrictor (no tune), will maybe add tune later
Corsa Sport 3" catback system with 4.5" polished tips
Oil pump upgrade (preparation for supercharger)
Whipple 2.9l supercharger kit, after 12 months ownership

SUSPENSION
Ford Racing Mustang GT Handling Kit (Dampers, Springs, Sway Bars etc)
BMR Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit (CB005)
BMR Toe Rods, Double adjustable rod ends
BMR Vertical links lower control arms, Delrin/Spherical
?Steeda IRS Subframe bushing support system (Does CB005 perform this task)
?Steeda Adjustable Differential bushing support system (Does CB005 perform this task)
?Steeda IRS Subframe alignment kit (Does CB005 perform this task)
?Steeda Mustang Rear IRS Subframe Support braces (Does CB005 perform this task)
Steeda Extreme G-Trac K-Member brace

DRIVELINE
Steeda Shifter base bushing bracket kit
Steeda MT-82 Transmission Mount bushing insert
*Maybe MGW short shifter kit

INTERIOR
Shelby GT350 Steering Wheel
50th Anniversary white Shift knob
Ford Racing Black Shift knob
Diode Dynamics Interior LED Conversion kit
Steeda Mustang Hood strut kit

EXTERIOR
25mm front wheel spacers
23mm rear wheel spacers
Ford Mustang Decal Kit - Speed Stripe Black
*Maybe Ford California Special upper and lower grills
Ford Racing Mustang Tail Lamp applique with US GT badge and not faux filler cap
Tint (medium) for rear tail lights
*Maybe Trufiber or CJPP carbon front splitter, sideskirts and rear diffuser
*Maybe GT350 style front bumper with carbon front splitter and mesh and GT350R style carbon rear wing
After 12 months ownership 19x10or20x10 front silver wheels and 19x11or20x11 silver rear wheels shod in Michelin MPSS/Cup 2's
*Maybe add black racing stripes at a later date!

Spent a lot of time researching and still not decided on certain things yet but cannot wait to take delivery, will drive it for a week or two completely standard, then start putting my parts on one by one. Exhaust, Wheel spacers, suspension bits etc. :)

???Question mark in front of some the Steeda items under Suspension is because I am unsure if BMR Lockout Cradle CB005 performs this function as BMR state their one part performs the same function as several parts from their competition, aka Steeda, so would be good to know for sure. I don't want to be buying Steeda parts if CB005 is performing that function......

How much does your car share with the 350 in terms of suspension/handling?

They are very different. The GT350 + Tech/track pack and GT350R use magnetic dampers for one. A lot of the cooling and aerodynamics are improved. And then there's the engine, 5.2L flat plane crank versus 5.0L cross plane crank. You wouldn't be able to upgrade the GT to a GT350.

Suspension actually might be possible, speaking to FRPP last night and the magnetic ride setup might just might become an item they will sell to people can retrofit to GT's.

Otherwise spring/damper wise to match the track ability you would need a good set of coilovers such as KW, Penske etc.

The cooling and aero-dynamics can all be replicated and most parts are available for purchase from Ford now, though the genuine 350R Carbon spoiler is $8000 from FRPP.

The engine is actually based on the Coyote 5.0l but as mentioned you could not upgrade it to that 5.2l engine. However already Ford will release a BOSS 302 style intake and their own CAI to match and already tuners with these intakes manifolds, upto 90mm throttlebodies are seeing about 525-550BHP at the crank with 7500rpm limits, cams, oil pump upgrade and the rev limits are increased to 8000rpm. So work can be done on the Coyote 5.0 to give a similar rev limit but with slightly more power. Problem is this cost around $8000 to get around 525-550BHP crank, same money gets you over 800 horsepower crank with a blower. :)

With a Mustang anything is possible, Ford always built the platform this way for the last 50 years, throw out a basic car, typically the base cars in the past have being poor-average with special models being reasonably good but nothing has ever being amazing from factory until now.

Difference is now say a GT Premium is now very good from factory, mainly because Mustang decided to compete with Europe so they had to do a much better job with the basic cars. So now the special cars are truly incredible, like GT3 incredible as a drivers car and ability. As always with all Mustangs you can buy a GT PP, outfit it with suspension goodies, weight reduction, power adders and make it lap as fast as a GT350 for sure. Most of the 350's performance improvement on track actually comes from the wheel/tyre combo, same for the 350R.

GT PP got 19x9 front and 19x9.5 with the rather poor Pirelli Pzero. :(
350 gets much wider rubber and is MPSS.
350R gets even wider and is Cup 2's.

A nice chart here to show differences between GT PP, 350 and 350R. :)
