Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Hi there

Ford were in touch last week stating they hoped to get me a build slot early-middle November, today I got an official confirmation email:

Dear Mr Gibson

Thank you for placing your order for a Ford Mustang. I wanted to let you know that production of right-hand drive Mustangs has now started at our production facility in Flat Rock, Michigan, USA.

Your vehicle is one of the earliest builds and is scheduled for build on 16/11/2015.

The anticipated shipping time to our dealership is 12 weeks after vehicles have left Flat Rock.

Once your vehicle has cleared customs and is loaded onto a ship in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, we will be in touch again to share with you the name of the vessel. This will allow you to track its progress via www.vesselfinder.com. Once your vehicle has reached Zeebrugge, please allow 5-6 weeks for European customs clearance and onward delivery to the UK.

While it’s been a long wait, we hope this live tracking will provide more information in the final phase of waiting.

Many thanks

Good news, should be with me sometime in February, is it March 1st cars go onto new registration?

Would be March yes. Hopefully they sort some of the quality and logistics problems before yours gets built as I know some of the guys on the Mustang6g forums have had their built but they have been sat in Baltimore for 2 or 3 weeks and they don't have confirmed load onto boat yet.

Its a long route to Mustang ownership! I don't expect mine to be built until at least May and I'm still considering changing the colour.

Nice did not know you ordered one buddy! :)
When did you order?

Ordered on 8/8/15 and my paperwork says expected delivery in 09/16. Hopefully it is before then though although I will probably delay an early delivery until July and pick it up for my birthday if I could.

Feels like forever until I can get it!

Good luck with it mate, if mine arrives middle February, I shall tell Ford I will collect 1st of March as I want it registered on a 17 plate. :)

Yeah and 1st March will be 16 plates. I'll probably end up on a 66 plate myself at this rate!

Worst thing about waiting is not having a car until it arrives. Currently taking the bus to work to avoid paying out for a car I don't want/need!

Ah that is a pain, am fortunate enough to still have the 911 and M3 to use, though 911 is now for sale. :)

66 plate will probably be quite suitable actually, maybe RO66 USA or something equally vain...

Hi there

I really do hope Ford bring the Shelby GT350/R in RHD, certainly a car which can rival the best Europe can throw at it for half the price, sounds incredible:

People are already discussing how best to keep the carbon wheels from the thiefs etc. The R is seemingly a hell of a lot of car for the money.

I'd buy the none-R personally, I would not want the carbon wheels and lack of toys personally.

The GT350 is practically just as capable, but has the toys, normal and imho nicer looking wheels and is $48,000 base or $58,000 with most options.

I've already informed Ford I will buy one and my name is down for one, but right now they are saying they have zero plans to bring a RHD version or even the car to Europe in LHD right now simply because they cannot meet USA demand on the GT350 and the R is to limited.
