Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Yes identical. :)
Except mine shall have a manual gearbox, that is an auto. ;)

Then I shall change rear decklid to running chrome pony as seen on the front as I hate the fake rear filler cap.

The front chrome pony will be changed for a black one and my car shall sit around 1-1.5" lower all round along with some subtle black side decals.

Oh and mine won't have the big bulky front plate. :)

that looks great, but i'm expecting bigger things from Gibbo's car

yea as said, the black wheels on a white car aren't quite right..........better graphite grey or Chrome, the stripes are classic Shelby but i'm not sure about them either, because they look wrong on the Dodge too...... i'd tone it all right down and have it looking more like a ``Street Sleeper``.........dare i say they look too Boy Racer.

yea deffo better without the stripes............

How thoroughly mean :p

Gibbo, 1.5 years in the waiting, a car finally docked in Europe, mere weeks away from reaching the culmination point of a thread well over a thousand posts long, pile of parts ready and waiting.

Iceman wanders down the dealer, buys a Shelby, job done.

:p

Ice cold man, ice cold!

This is probably the closest I can find to an accurate representation of the color. It comes out almost white in most pictures but it's nothing like that in real life.

I love it, though there is one thing I dislike, the exact same thing on the GT, it simply sits too high, large gaps in the arches.

Easily fixed on GT with lowering springs or FRPP track handling kit or coilovers. But on the Shelby well I guess your stuck with it as you don't want to lose the magnetic dampers which are a great feature of the car, you'd have to go coilovers and sacrifice ride quality for handling and looks.

Looks fab Iceman. I'm in Washington State in January but it's a shame as that's probably a bit far to come for a meet.

Aren't they only selling like 2k cars a year in the UK? which will make it a pretty rare sight I woukd think?

If they are really selling as many as 2k a year it's hardly rare - thats DOUBLE the number of 530d M Sport's BMW sell a year for example and they hardly unicorns!

Bit of a difference though, compare 5 series BMW's to Mustangs and the difference will be quite staggering in amount sold. 5 series is a very common sight on the road and they all look the same whether its a 520D or a 535i and the fact M sport trim can be added to any engine in the 5 series, my friend has a 520D M sport. :)

That's wasn't really Fox's point though, perhaps he could have demonstrated it with a better example. Lotus sold just over 200 cars in 2014 (all models), that's ten times less than the Ford Mustang. Ten times! I think calling a Ford Mustang rare is going to a bit of a stretch to say the least.

It will probably sit in the same level of rarity as the Ford Capri did in the 1970s/80s. Not a bad thing, also one of my favourite cars. Not rare though.

Ok, perhaps rare was a stretch:o

I believe the number Ford have allocated is 1800 for the first year, so okay it's not rare as such, but it's still quite a low number to make it relatively exclusive enough.

Beats seeing a 320d or Audi A4 TDi around every corner.

So, thoughts so far on the GT350.

The engine..... Oh the engine. Character in buckets, hard edge and free revving just like my Ferrari 430 but with a lot more torque, low down noise and tractability. Really gets gong over 5k, and over 7k, just goes berserk.

Brakes - Ford have finally put decent brakes on a Shelby, the ones on the last GT500 weren't up to the task at all, these have plenty of feel and great bite.

Suspension and ride are incredible, so soft and comfortable but almost zero body roll, the magnerides are superb, not up to the level of my old Mclaren, but very impressive and significantly better ride than my Aston was.

I absolutely love the looks, and the color gets a lot of attention. Interior quality is leagues beyond the previous generation mustang but obviously very poor compared with the Aston. Clutch is super light, heavier than the regular GT but massively lighter than the Ferrari or Aston, nice take up, easy shifting. The 350 has a different box to the regular GT and shifts beautifully, though I'll be changing the shifter for a titanium one shortly.

Negatives? It's not an exotic car, though it gets a lot of attention still. Audio system - oh dear. I didn't know it was possible to make something so god awful, but Ford have managed it. Now, coming from the Aston which has arguably the best audio system in the world, I wasn't expecting much, but this is below any standard I could've imagined, worse still, this is the upgraded tech pack system!!

I have a few things to do to it over the coming few days - GT350R Carbon wing, new shift knob, led lights inside and then a complete audio overhaul for the car.

A Mustang and a Ferrari F430 being compared, who'd ever have thought that. :)

GT350R wing is a must, I am too contemplating one for mine, are you going with the Genuine Ford one though as it is $8000-$16000 for an item that cost $300 to make, if you can get the Ford genuine item at a good price, get two please Dave as I shall take the other of you. :)

Is it the Shaker 1000 system or do Shelby's get something different? If it is the Shaker system make sure you go into the SYNC system and tell to not use driver focused audio mode, seems to be a problem on this system, other guys also report the same poor audio but when you take it from driver focused mode and custom set it up then its OK.

What shift knob you thinking?

I posted a video a few pages back of a guys GT doing 50-120mph in just 4th gear, he has fitted the GT350 TB and intake manifolds, moves peak power higher and revs forever. :)

The R wing is absolutely stupidly priced, it's obviously to keep people from imitating the 350R, seems to be the case with all the 350/350R parts.

I'll be getting one of the other manufacturers' carbon version, or having my friend make one up for me, for probably $500.

As for the audio, they don't do the Shaker system in the Shelby, but they do put the upgraded 9 speaker system with amp in. There's no salvaging it with adjustments believe me, it's absolutely abysmal - I've never heard a system as awful as this in my life. Definitely something I'm going to have to spend a lot of money to fix, which is a shame.

Shift knob wise, was going to order a LatheWerks titanium one, they're around $200 for the one I want, and they're hand made to order.

Are you going to fit the intake manifolds to yours do you think?

I am leaving mine alone he says for a year to himself. ;)

GT350 intake, GT350 throttlebody and GT350 CAI is around $1500 and about $500 to tune it, so all in your looking at $2000 and on a UK car it will probably net around 55-70BHP so not too shabby at all plus of course a new redline of 7800rpm as peak power if shifted to 7500rpm with new intake.

But I am happy to sit back and watch from a distance as guys in the US are fitting BOSS 302, Pro Jet and 350 manifold intakes, though the 350 does make the most sense, basically replicating what Ford did with the Shelby and what is proven to work and be safe on the Coyote.

Or I could just hold tight and go ahead with the original plan of upgrade the oil pump/gears and fit a Whipple super charger kit, that way I still have a new peak power of 7500rpm but I also have around 750BHP so a good 300+ horsepower gain and that will cost $10,000, so more but a much larger power gain.

If a lot of guys go the 350 intake route and have good results I might visit that as an interim to supercharger as good thing is any modifications are easy to sell/move on.

Yeah with the GT car you can upgrade to the 12 speaker Shaker 1000 system which I have optioned for, so hoping that is OK, most say once it is custom setup it is quite a nice decent sounding system, there is better but for factory system it is ok. :)

Am sure you can fix the sound system easily, just take it to the right place to get it sorted.

If you get a wing made up for $500, grab two, I shall take one of you m8 as for that money it is worth the risk of it looking terrible on a regular GT. :)

2000 a year doesn't really make them rare no, I agree. A point I made a while ago. It seems a shame as it will make them seem less "special"
