Ford Mustang to be released in EU

I doubt Ford is making much (any?) money on these (hence the price rises). This is mostly a PR exercise I think.

Supposedly profit on these was about £500. Not sure I believe it all tbh but it's not an expensive car.

My test drive was about 30 mins. I could probably have got an hour but did it at lunch. That was for a confirmed order too. He wouldn't let my colleague go out in it after either as he knew he wasn't an order and was just a fun ride.

Interesting, thanks. What's their incentive to let you test drive it after ordering? Are you allowed to cancel? Or just good customer service?

Planning on trying to test drive one of these next week...my fiancee may not be happy if I accidentally order one!

saw one today around stoke. yellow but not sure if it was a v8. didnt get a good look, but its still a mustang. maybe one of those cars which looks better in a picture?

Not what Gibbo has been telling us

Well seems they are comparing it too cars costing a lot more as they said this in regards to rivals:

Such is the value of the £34,000 V8 ‘Stang, that it’s hard to know what to compare it to. There are hot hatches that cost a similar amount of money but it seems unlikely that buyers of one would be looking at the other. To get a coupe comparable in terms of arresting style and similar performance you would be looking at something much more expensive like a V6 Jaguar F-Type or a Porsche Cayman S, both of which are still languishing some way behind on power. Perhaps the closest, most interesting and truly tempting alternative is to look at a secondhand buy like a last generation V8 M3 or C63 Coupe.

Cars costing a lot more money. :)

You were claiming it drove as well as as the German alternatives, now you are conceding its just better value :p

Considering the German alternative would be something like a 420/28i, I imagine the Mustang drives better with its limited slip differential, more power and better brakes.

You should maybe show me exactly what I said and what it was in response too. :)

But I shall know for myself in a few days, eta with me is this Friday, just in time for snow. :)

I actually really liked how the mustang felt and the noise is just great! The gearbox and clutch and handling were the highlights for me. Totally was not expecting it to be so good considering the flack everyone gives American muscle cars.

I did quite like my old one, but in fairness it needed a lot of work to be made good and even then it was not incredible, it had good grip and reasonable feel/feedback but still had issues due to live axle etc. but it was quite capable but I changed every component on it to make it so and did a lot of work on the live axle. Standard the old S197 chassis was average at best, as many standard road cars had better handling/chassis, a Mondeo for etc.

The new S550 Mustang has come along way, the factory car is above and beyond the old car, infact so much the GT PP factory car out handles the outgoing BOSS 302 car which was the flagship. But the S550 is not without its issues, the rebound on the PP dampers is out causing the bounce many complain about. The IRS also has the feeling of being disconnected/lose which is not great but it as all the reviews have said the car is quite capable and hustles well and just lacks the dynamics as reviews stated

So even though the current car is good, it can be improved upon by essentially ripping out the dampers/springs and fitment of some additional braces and uprated bushes, this does improve and cure what people complain about. It does not even cost much to do and these cars are easy to work on, but I believe Ford should have got it right from factory, but they are a business, wanted to keep cost down and also wanted to win some upgrade sales by selling FRPP kit. :)

There are a few good handling road american cars now, Camaro, Corvette, Mustang are great cars, but the Mustang is still the only official RHD one, maybe GM will bring the Corvette and Camaro in RHD now that Ford have done the Mustang.

Saw my first one at the weekend going the opposite way around the M25, otherwise I'd have got up closer and had a better look. Looked pretty cool in Red with black stripes down the side at the bottom (I think?)
